Hello there, I am looking to gather overall interest in one or more areas of Minecraft videos, for better production of my series. Thought I would ask the community what videos its prefers to watch.
The poll choices are as follows
Tutorials (building, farming, modding, etc)
Showcase (building, modding, etc)
Music (either in game or fanmade)
Memes (creeper aw man for example)
Adventure (episodic survival videos such as Far Lands or Bust)
Other (please specify)
I make showcase videos only these days so I'd say that, even though I rarely play the game for reasons outside of video making other than map making if I get an idea from a mod/datapacks I've showcased. I don't really watch many Minecraft videos anymore and if I do it would be on a map or a showcase compared to modpack let's plays in the past when I knew less compared to now exploring more and making maps that I get an inspiration idea from.
Also would Maps be under Adventure like how Adventure maps are or would they be under Other due to their format or the elements if it's a puzzle, quiz, parkour for example?
What sort of series are you considering yourself besides these options?
Tutorials, but if all you're doing is showing me where to place blocks then that's not a tutorial. You need to explain things, preferably in a way that makes it clear which version you're doing this in. Gnembon does tutorial videos, TangoTek does not.
I enjoy „Let‘s Play“ videos the best if they are entertaining like those of paulsoaresjr, and I like building tutorials like those of fwhip and Grian. I don‘t watch videos that don‘t have a running commentary and the voice is important to me.

I see. I myself rarely watch Minecraft videos. Its a bit odd, considering how much time I spend on crafting a video and uploading it. I used to watch a lot of MC videos in my early years of MC, which built up the inspiration to do it myself. Adventure maps would fit under Adventure. Plenty of series out there that revolve around an adventure map.
The Ender Scrolls series for example.
Right now I consider myself Adventure, I do episodic videos, where the character goes on adventures! Redundant sentence, I know. I initially tried to do episodic storytelling, pretty much a story with each episode dedicated to Recolada progressing through, completing tasks, reading notes that explore and expand the plot and lore. The current series is Soulshard, its about a catastrophe that has happened in the world that Recolada resides in. I haven't released any new episodes, its on the shelf for the moment. Unlike other series, its a silent let's play. Pretty much no speaking done by me. All text is focused in the video through book and quill or text overlay.
Which I found to not work... Right now I am starting to transition the series into Animation.

I agree with this! I see a lot of tutorials where they just place blocks, no explanation on what blocks are needed, and how exactly it all works. One person I am subscribed to is RabidSmore, they have several farming tutorial videos, they explain the farm, how it works, show you the exact number of blocks and items needed, and the pacing in the video is set up that you can build at the same time you are watching the video.

I tried to do a silent let's play series, where there was no commentary done by myself, it didn't work out too well. Its unfortunate. I've done the best I can with the current series. I'm a quiet type and also reserved, I don't speak much about my personal life to strangers. I see a lot of people do that. Its not my style, my style is commenting on what happens in game, instead of telling people about the yummy pizza I had for lunch today.
Thank you for the replies and voting results so far everyone!
