I started playing MC like a week ago after i saw some interesting videos on YT about how limitless the game is , so i created a world and i was spawned in the middle of the deep forest. I wandered a little then i stoped to set my base ( i had a river and a mine next to it so i thought it`s win-win for me )
After a while i needed crops ( weed and potato to start a farm for food ) but my crops don`t wanna grow
First set-up - i`ve puted them on water with irigation from 2 in 2 blocks with 2 blocks under as well - nothing happened , then i`ve puted them on land with one block above the maine base ( with water blocks as well for irigation and lanterns at each corner - nothing as well - i forgot to mention that i cleared all the trees that were in the area - nothing , i even stole a farmer from a village and put him there still no resolve .
Final set-up - i thought that is cold in the deep forest so i put lava channel with glass on top to not spit fire - still nothing
MC ver. 1.14.4 ( vanilla )
Does anyone has a clue about what should i do ? last resort is to move base somewhere else
Do you have leaves above the crop land? If you don't have unobstructed views above the crops for sunlight, try putting down torches around the crops. The water you have should irrigate the ground enough. I have crops growing underground with Jack o"Lanterns lighting them up, so I would suggest putting down torches to see if that helps. It does take time for crops to grow as well. More info in the wiki.
My crops under ground. The trap doors hide the Jack o'Lanterns and the granite slabs hide the water channels. I could use less water, but I'm happy with it. Each of the Wheat, Carrots, Potatoes and Beats farms have 64 blocks of crop. I dug out the levels on top of each other going down, so when I'm standing close enough to have the chunk loaded, all the crops can grow at once. I've thought about making automatic farms for the other crops but haven't bothered yet. Too many other things to do.
Wheat
Carrots
Potatoes
Beats
Melons and Pumpkins
Automatic Sugar Cane farm - when the sugarcane grows right in front of the detector in the back, all the pistons on that side activate and push the top two sugar cane blocks into the water channel to be collected in a chest.
You have irrigated land and light, so your crops should grow. You don‘t need lava at all, so I would remove it. What happens if you apply bone meal to your crops? Do they grow then? Can you have changed something in the timing of the game (ticks?) to make everything happen more slowly?
