If I switch from my loudspeakers to my headphones or vice versa in Windows 10's Sound Settings Minecraft won't switch unless I close it down all the way and restart from the launcher.
Does anybody have any idea if there is some other way to get MC to use the proper sound output?
What works for me usually is to reload the resource pack by going into the resource pack menu. Then, move the loaded resource pack to the left side and then back to the right (loaded) and click save or whatever. When you do, it should throw up a quick loading screen which loads the resources and should fix the audio source issue. When in the resource menu any change seems to trigger it, but if you just hit save without changing it nothing happens.
Ive had this problem many times due to glitchy audio drivers. Hopefully it works for you too.
I checked the bug tracker and found a suggestion for an easier way to to what I think is the same thing, pressing F3+T reloads the resources and switches to the current sound device.

Feel your pain! I struggle with this one too.

@RockingSilver:
Thanks!
That works but I'm not sure it's much better than closing the game, it's a bit faster but more complicated.
Good to have another option though!
