Personally I'll be voting Desert. Deserts are a lot like pre-1.13 oceans-- despite having a temple and a unique mob, deserts are still one of the most visually unappealing and boring biomes in Minecraft. Things like oasis's,pyramids, interesting sub-biomes, and unique mobs like camels and scorpions can really make the desert become a great biome to settle down in, instead of the biome you go to temporarily when you need glass or some green dye.
Voting for NONE. (Not, or course, a listed option — and MC/Mj has no intention of allowing write-ins.)
Having experienced the disparity between MobB as it was teased and MobB as it was implemented, and even if the vox populi was trustworthy, there will not be enough details of the updates available to make an informed decision.
[This also bodes badly for MS/Mj spending the resources necessary to fix the already extant problems, instead choosing to go further down the hole of attempting to distract the player base with a succession of new bells & whistles. Given the performance of the 'splatbook of the month' model in another genre of gaming, one does not look forward to the result.
It would have been far more encouraging if the poll was which of the ongoing problems should recieve top priority…]
Re Deserts:
At present one of the most attractive features of deserts is that it does not rain (thus there is no lightning).
This makes deserts one of the few biomes (the others being savanna & mesa) in which one can build with flamable materials without having to hang lightning protecting roofs over the entire build.

Just so people are aware, the Mojang community manager confirmed on the Minecraft subreddit that all three biomes will be updated -- the vote is just to determine which biome is updated first.

Though I like these mob ideas, I wouldn't really call them 'unique'. These are things everybody thinks about first when they think about deserts and they are hardly surprising/out of the box. The blaze and the creeper for example are 'unique' because they are completely new, based on nothing we've seen before.
How about a pickpocket mob for example? A mob that looks like a pile of blocks and move closer when its target isn't looking at it. When it gets close enough, it will steal a stack from the victim's inventory and perhaps give it to another entity or put it into its treasure chest.
This might be too extreme, and ofcourse there's always at least 1 person complaining that it's "not vanilla", but I think it would be more worthy of the term 'unique' at least, as I've never seen it before.
I vote for the taiga btw, because I think the taiga has potential for some real out of the box additions.

I mean, a new wood is good. But honestly it's a desert. It should be kind of barren ya? Good adds thus far. Making it a rare Oasis find, would be cool. The ability to find water and trees with grass while in the desert for those of us that do like starting there sometimes.
I'm not particularly impressed by the foxes, but campfires and berry bushes!? Yes please!! I hope they make the berry bushes like the leaf blocks and not a crossed texture like the tall grass. Berry bushes could add sooo much more colour to trees and gardens!!
Now that we have all of the Biome Chooser videos, we can now get a better idea on what the outcome of the Minecon 2018 BIOME CHOOSER poll will be.
I would like to say that I don't really like the way the videos were presented. I would have much preferred WIP in-game mockups as opposed to a highly stylized pixel presentation.
It is so stylized from normal Minecraft that we don't actually know, for example, if the new Baobab/Palm trees are actually new wood types, or if they are simply new tree designs using existing wood. We also don't know specifics in the ideas, such as if berries will have any poison variants or if foxes can be tamed, or even if fireplaces have any actual use outside of a new form of lighting.
Hopefully before Minecon, we will get some more clarification. I'll try and update you guys if any new info comes out.
I still prefer Taiga as a place to build a home, set up a base. I live in Cascadia (the Pacific Northwest) and Taiga is most like home to me. I do agree about foxes becoming "another wolf or ocelot," and campfires are really not a "biome" thing. Actual "berry bushes" would be good, but at the moment I'm more about "what biome do I want to call home" than "what cool things do we get out of this?" That's just a preference issue for me. I *totally* get someone voting for other biomes.
Termites feel very out of place in the game to me for some reason. They're not pleasant to deal with either, I've got dozens of camping trips to back that statement up. Taiga feels like the only biome where it feels like actual life is being brought in. Maybe it's just because I'm so accustomed to trees and forests living not even an hour away from the Rockies, but still. The other updates to the other biomes are cool, they just seem pretty lackluster imo. I'll be voting Taiga come Saturday.
So three future updates are going to update each of these three biomes? I really hope the performance gets a look because it just keeps getting worse, but you miss out on a lot not to update.
I'm surprises the Savanna biome is in that list. The Taiga and Desert biomes I understand, but the Savanna isn't that old, relatively, and already has the unique feature of a unique tree and wood type, as well as terrain (and that's not even including the Savanna M biome). I'm also not sure how I feel about termites, although the new tree is nice (doubly so if it's a new wood type, speaking as a builder).
I'm not opposed to it getting an update, mind you, but I'd have rather seen some other biome get the treatment before it. Plains, Extreme Hills, and Forest biomes are some such examples. Plains, in my opinion, need to be bigger, a bit more flat, and then have some unique things added to them. They feel more like glorified hilly meadows as it is now, that people only build in because they're the flattest and most cleared of obstacles. That's not a bad thing, but I'd like to see them be more.
The purpose of this poll is to get a general idea on what the results of the 2018 Minecon Biome Chooser will be.
Please discuss why you voted for a particular biome, and what you might like to see added!

Pretty sure the videos will come out on the 20'th, the 23'rd, and the 26'th
EDIT: Haha that hunch was wrong.

I'm going for desert, it's just lifeless out of the three.
The Desert has been revealed, showcasing a new tree type, palm trees, and a meerkat mob!

As a builder, a new wood type would absolutely be a huge reason to vote for Desert.

I'm sure it won't be too filled with palms. Perhaps they'll only spawn in the Desert Lakes sub-biome.

And finally, the Savanna has been unveiled, giving us termites, ostriches, and a new tree type Baobabs.

Hopefully the Savanna, mainly because it feels bland in it's current state.
