So I just watched this video: (Skip to 4:42) and I was wondering, how does he explode so much tnt with almost no lag, while running shaders? I can run shaders just fine, but if i stood in the middle of that much tnt my game would instantly freeze on the first explosion. Does anybody know what hardware he has? Is it a mod that makes it less laggy? Or is there anything i can upgrade on my pc to do this? I know optifine can remove the particles and make is substantially lass laggy, but i still get lag while near the explosion. (likely because of the physics calculations and entity rendering)
He probably just has very good specs. Unless something has changed over the years, minecraft is a CPU-heavy game, and since this is mostly physics calculations, upgrading your CPU will probably contribute the most.
Your CPU has nearly nothing to do with FPS. Upgrading your GPU will contribute the most.

PC Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5 6600k
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970
RAM: 8GB (I will soon have 16GB)

I strongly agre with CommandoAir, its the matter of fps. another factor you can try is reducing/disabling all your particles.
Disabling your particles definitely will help, as well as lowering your graphics settings in general.
render distance 2, particles off, smooth lighting off
