Hi I don't really know where to put this thread, it concerns the merchandise of Minecraft and a hint it may hold toward the future updates.
So anyways Minecraft has a Lego theme of its own for quite a bit of time, and at a local mall I saw this set: the OCEAN MONUMENT.
Note: I didn't take this photo.
As you can see this is a rendition of the Ocean Monument introduced in 1.8, with a Guardian, an Elder, and a squid. But a thing I find pretty absurd, something that doesn't fit quite consistently with Minecraft.
If you look toward the bottom, there is a minifigure of Alex, or so it seems, wearing a lavender colored helmet and chestplate, and wielding a sword of the same color. Looking upwards, you can see the Steve minifigure holding a similarly colored pickaxe. Now there aren't any purple tools/weapons/armor in Minecraft right? No... as of now. Could this purple gear appear in a future update? Or is it simply an anomaly?
Most likely a one-off sort of thing. The color tinge may just be there to give off a more underwater feel, or perhaps in lieu of an enchantment sheen. Besides, there really isn't much that'd point towards new minerals in an upcoming update.
OMG! Amazon has that set for sale for $120 or $140 depending upon the seller.
1122 pieces.

There are no dangerous weapons. There are only dangerous people. R.A. Heinlein
If you aren't part of the solution, then you obviously weren't properly dissolved.
If it is a new armor, I'd guess made of shulker shells based off the appearance.
But it's probably just a merchandising thing. A lot of the time merchandising will add something for seemingly no reason, it could be a mistake or just to increase the "appeal" in some chart. Overthinking marketing leads to unneeded speculation.

Figured it was time for a change.
I also took this to be an attempt at representing enchanted equipment.
On another note: sad that Lego didn't produce a product that would allow building the monument in scale :sigh:
(judging by the Elder Guardian vs Monument top visible at the bottom of the pic).
The armor might be dyed? idk alex is gun die
I'm 99% sure it's just to make it look like it's enchanted.
Check out my suggestions! Here is one of them:

It's an enchanted leather armor, I think. What surprises me most is because Steve and Alex come to the monument with little armor
