Hello, everyone! I have recently created a server with free op. I disabled a few commands, such as /stop and /ban in order to prevent disabling other people's abilities as an op, or crashing the server. I put the server on minecraft-server-list - the one with the "new servers" tab that everyone uses. Surprisingly, the results of this experiment were not what was expected.
This experiment took place around 8:00 P.M. GMT-500
The server had 12 slots. I expected that a free op server would receive the full 12 players very quickly. Surprisingly, it never had more than 5 players, due to players complaining it was "too boring," or other issues.
What would you guys expect? Should I do this experiment again, perhaps at a different time of day? Leave your thoughts below!

Yes! I am a Java Developer! No, I probably will not work for free.
Everyone wants to be better than everyone else. Whenever through money, skill, or happiness, people aren't constantly trying to become more powerful than the rest. It's natural humans behavior that probably is the reason why we've come to rule the world.
Communism is a good example of this- everyone wants to be equal for the better good, in theory; but when push comes to shove the "leaders" takes advantage of the weak system and rules with an iron fist.
The reason people want OP in the first place is to better than everyone else. If everyone has OP, it isn't special anymore. So people get bored and want more abilties. This experiment has proven that it isn't the abitlies that matter, it's the fact that you're superior to others that anyone (subconsciously) cares about.

This explains what the situation is. And if you have the ability to do everything on the server, eventually it turns out boring as there isn't any real challenge

They're right, it sounds very boring. Why would anyone want to play?
Why am I here
Perhaps try advertising with a banner and add a bunch of plugins. This way people see something they like (such as towny) and then want to join.
