So, i recently took up helping people in the support section. Ever since i started 2 weeks ago i noticed people don't read the posts that will help them fix their issue then and there. The problem with using Intel integrated graphics and they need to toggle there VBOs settings is the simplest thing but people refuse to google, or read anything. I feel like the support section is a babysitting service, for problems.
People post their when there account email goes missing, or stuff THEY know Mojang can only fix and they think some random people on the forums can help them fix it, all i end up doing is saying "Only Mojang can deal with account issues". People getting FPS problems in the game this has been a common issue where people with a AMD GPU have plays.tv and that drops there frames to unplayable find that out and they close the program and it works. Reading they tried so many things to try to fix it and the easiest thing was 2 clicks away.
I think i should start a help for minecraft players baby sitting service. Oh wait it already technically exists.
Welcome to every game forum in existence. Minecraft is not unique in this.
As the saying goes, just imagine how stupid the average person is, and realize that half of the world is more stupid than that.
This is also why IT support desk jobs are in such high demand. End users are idiots. Case in point, the company controller at my work, you know, the person who literally handles millions of dollars every day for the company, was unfamiliar with Excel and calls about every little pop-up that ahe cets on her screen. "I get an error and just click no, and it won't open."... come to find the "error" was asking if she wanted to open the file... I have a plethora of more stories like this, including one person "restarting" their computer by turning off the monitor.

But i'm not a IT Support desk person just find the time out of my none too busy day to do it while im bored. I work for Canada Border Services Agency as a Customs Officer. I do see where you are coming from, people need a personal babysitter.

I was speaking generally. People are too stupid to look up information beforehand and try to resolve their problems on their own. Thus IT jobs pay quite a bit more. Entry level pay for me and I make over $21 an hour off the bat. Personally it ain't enough given the stress educing cringe these people dish out on a daily basis.
Just remember that a lot of the people you're helping are young people who don't even know how to do their own laundry and pickup after themselves. They are a generation that has learned to ask first and try to figure it out for themselves last. To them it seems easier to just ask and an answer gets handed to them. Minecraft has a bit of a unique situation for a video game where you actually have a segment of older non-tech savvy people too who need help.
As I person who grew up just as computers were becoming mainstream (before Windows) and just as the internet was becoming a thing, I view Google as a treasure trove of information. So much info on just about anything you can think about readily available as long as you can put in the right words to get the hits you're looking for. No reason not to check there first for solutions, you just need to look at several sources first and pick a solution that sounds like it makes the most sense. At least you will know a bit more than before you started.
OT: I remember years ago going on a skiing trip up to Canada (B.C.) and I made the mistake of taking a pic of the border people as they were searching our car. (yeah young and stupid...didn't read the signs) Boy did I get reamed out...and my film taken.
