PvP servers are just a game of "build a giant obsidian bunker at the bottom of the sea".
You've been on faction servers then... and not on an actual pvp server...
I just don't like it because the cooldown makes fights like 2 minutes long and since everything is slow, players run more and are more likely run. I liked fast-paced pvp a lot more. The new one is too boring and takes forever to kill someone. Also I hate how axes are the most op thing in the game...
*cough, cough* axe charge attack for crowds *cough, cough*
and also, this will not make pvp SLOW, it will make it intense, back when i literally couldnt win pvp because the dude i was fighting was CLICKING faster than me pissed me off. I personally believe that before now, it didnt even matter what weapon or armor u had unless it was like wood sword vs iron or stone sword vs diamond, the fact that it actually takes skill to pvp nowadays is fantastic and i wouldnt change it for anything.
Wood axes do same damage as a diamond sword which pisses me off. In no way what so ever is that realistic. Also losing because the other person was clicking faster is bs if that's what you think makes you better then you are a complete noob. (I do about a click every .33 second which isn't fast at all, but I still win like 90% of the time. you're probably one of those people that stand still or just walks in a straight direction when they fight then complain when they die cause they got killed by someone with more skill...) (Or in other cases they call them a hacker.) Also how is slower fighting "More intense"? In 1.9 fights are only "Click! Wait....... Wait.... CLICK! Wait.... Wait.... CLICK! (*Realises he's getting low on health so he runs away.) Whenever I'm on 1.9 I'm never on the edge of my seat thinking. "I need to react fast! or he'll kill me!" and also half the time I 1v1 people they run away when they're at like 5 hearts. (Don't say something like "In 1.8 people ran away too." Cause chances are you are one of those people that run EVERY SINGLE TIME. I get the fact that everyone has ran away once or twice or maybe even 100+ times. but the problem is that when people ran away in 1.8 they didn't have time to run away cause as soon as they turned around and started running they got hit like 1-2 times. (Making the player at like a half heart or in some cases they'd die right away.) Making it actually a slim chance of you surviving and killing the enemy if you tried running away. Now you're playing 1.9 and since fights are alot slower the player has more time to think if he wants to run away or not. (and most people choose run away!) I swear everytime I join a 1.9 "PVP" server nearly everyone runs away... This is like my 8th time trying 1.9 and it's never been considered "Fun" "Skillful" or "Intense" in the slightest. Even when I win a 1.9 "pvp" game I've never really thought "Wow! That was a fun and "intense" round!" Not once! Also I can think of like 10+ very famous 1st person fighting games that are "Fast-paced" (Rather than a 2 minute pvp match with alot of running.) Like COD This is one of the most famous games alive Not a big fan of it but games like Cod don't take like 2 full minutes to kill someone and don't have like a 2 second cooldown time.... I'm sorry but 1.9 is ruining fun and "skillful" pvp, you didn't die because you "Didn't click fast enough!" or because of your internet or anything of such sort. (Although if you have terrible internet it might be understandable.) You lost all your pvp matches cause you didn't know how to dodge attacks, be aware of your surroundings, land nearly every shot when you click (This is actually hard.) but mostly because you didn't know how to PVP in the first place.... (Go ahead, respond with "duh spam cliking requires no skill and since wen dose click, click, click seem like funer and intenser than 1.9?) but just so you know most fighting games are like that. Call of duty and most other first person shooters all are pretty much revolved around "Click click click" if you actually think about it. (Also don't respond with "But COD and other fps games are defferent becos you need to relod your guns and be careful with how much ammo you use and it requires skill." Cause that's complete bs. (Face it, if you think 1.8 pvp is only about "click click click" then I guess I can also be ignorant, as well as only tell the half truth and say all games are like "click click click" )
So in summary 1.9 combat is very slow and they should've just stuck to just adding the good things like the Elytra, end cities, more potions etc rather than ruin pvp for all the people that have actual skill.

Can you please break this into paragraphs? I'd love very much to be convinced on the errors of 1.9, but I can't see your point through a wall of text.
The reason I don't like the combat system is because I feel like it takes too much away from the main aspect of minecraft, which is building and mining. I feel like whenever I try to commit to doing something other than mob fighting, I get swarmed. Before, I would be building and take a hit from a zombie or a skelly, not a problem just swing at them a couple times and its done. Now I feel like I have to take a whole break from building just to take a skelly out. Same thing with mining, it's just too painstaking to constantly be ducking around and trying to hit "strategically" when my whole purpose was to just get some ores. Lighting up areas with torches does help but it doesn't fix it.
I can agree with this. When I saw the dual-wielding aspect, I was honestly excited for it. "Cool," I thought, "now I can mine with one hand and plant torches with the other. Convenient!" But of course that slot pretty much has to be reserved for a gigantic, cumbersome shield if I want to have any chance of surviving an attack from a skeleton; especially if that skeleton is accompanied by another hostile mob. I did eventually figure out the "swing sword, hold up shield, swing sword, hold up shield" pattern. But it sure makes combat more of a pain,as well as placing down torches while exploring caves.
Can you please break this into paragraphs? I'd love very much to be convinced on the errors of 1.9, but I can't see your point through a wall of text.
Here, look, I'll do it for you.
It's a bit hard though... ever the danger of messing up and making it unreadable

Slower but trickier. That's how 1.9 update works. You need to corner him up so he doesn't run away.
Whenever I'm on 1.9 I'm never on the edge of my seat thinking. "I need to react
fast! or he'll kill me!"
You don't have to, you need to plan up.
And also half the time I 1v1 people they run away when they're at like 5 hearts.

Then why did you say everyone run away if they got killed?
Now you're playing 1.9 and since fights are

Oh man.

Minecraft =/= COD.
Minecraft used to be slow-paced.
They removed disparsity between new and pro.
So in summary 1.9 combat is very slow and they should've just stuck to

I'm a programmer. I use C/C++, BASIC, Assembly, and Python. If i sound too technicial, that's because it's the way i think.
After spending some time PvPing on my server, I've made a conclusion:
The PvP is too slow. You cannot put out enough damage to win a fight you deserve to win. My server has god items(not your typical 12 year olds who pay, dont start complaining), and a person who severely outgeared my protection 4 armor and who was much more talented at PvP than me could not kill me after 3 continuous minutes of fighting, and I managed to get away.
Another time, I was jumped by two individuals with god weapons, and again, I made it away after a long fight.
The regeneration and nerf to damage is insane. If the strike time is going to be slowed as it is, regeneration needs to be slowed as well.
Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.

Exactly, I love everything in the 1.9 update except the:
- Op Shields: Just cause.... Shields are a great idea but I wish they were made a bit less op..
- Op Axes (A wood axe does the same damage as a diamond sword.) Most people brush off this but think about it... 2 wood logs to craft a 3 hit kill weapon?? Like I get the fact that in a fight axes are heavy so they would do more damage per blow than a cheaply made stainless steel sword. but this is WOOD... Wood isn't really known for being "Lethal" if you know what I mean... Also, if you're really going to make a wood axe do 7 damage then it would make sense to have the stick do pretty much do the same amount of damage...
- Cooldown: My main reason for not liking this is because it is boring... It ruins the point of quickly killing a player and having huge pvp battles.. If they made it so you could turn off the cooldown as a /gamerule that'd be a neat and useful feature. My 2nd main reason for not liking it is because you can easily run away from fights without dying because of the annoying cooldown times... I liked it better when pvp was centered around skill and not just around "Luck" Also does anyone else hate how PVP doesn't have the "Rush" feel? Like when you were in 1.8 people sprinted when they pvped and it was overall just faster-paced. Now it's literally the other player trying to casually walk around you in circles and hitting you every like 4-7 seconds. It's almost as if PVP has lost it's spark and the intense type of gameplay... Someone will probably respond to this, saying stuff like "You don't like it coz you are a noob and cause you only lose!" (and then of course they'll probably pull the classic and call me a twelvie or something like that. Cause for some reason calling someone by a young age or something is offensive nowadays....)
True it mostly depends on which style of pvp you are playing. When I was saying players were running away I was mostly referring to HG, and other pvp minigames. Like you won't find as much running when you play on servers like kohi or badlion mostly because there is no where to run to.

I don't think there op since they can be disabled by axes.

yea, I agree with you about the wooden axe, I think they deal the same damage as the stone swords.

That can be disable in command blocks.

Edit: oh btw isn't spam clicking also centered around luck?

Shields are not overpowered for three reasons. One, bows and arrows are what they're balanced against. Two, their timing is weird and so is hard to master. Three, they have low durability.
Axes are not overpowered because even though they do a lot of damage, their damage per second (DPS) is a lot lower compared to a sword's. That is, it's much faster to kill someone with a diamond sword than a wooden axe.
To quote Yandere Dev (creator of Yandere Simulator): "Murder should not be easy." It shouldn't be easy to rapidly kill people in a game with such simple mechanics. There is no skill in clicking fast. It may be less immediately intense, but now it actually feels like a fight instead of whack-a-mole.
I'm still not sure if I like the food-regen mechanic. On the on hand, it establishes a clear connection between food and health. On the other hand, it's much harder to die, and it doesn't make much sense from a realism perspective.

They run away because it's their tactics. You need to corner them.

I honestly think the update is absolutely horrible, mostly the combat but some other stuff too. I already sucked at pvp before the update and now I'm worse. The cool down is what I hate the most and makes combat much more slower and slow = boring (most of the time) and it is so much more time consuming. The cool down also ruins mob combat for me. On my survival servers with my friends, I used to be able to go into caves and not be scared but now I don't really go exploring because after I looted a mine shaft and headed back to my base, it then became night time, so I went up in a tree and was going to wait there until day time but then a skeleton started shooting at me from the ground and somehow three zombies got up into the tree and then I died. The worst part about that was I lost the beetroots from the mine shaft which I had been searching for so long plus I lost my diamond sword, my diamond pickaxe and my diamond axe. After that, I thought the update was terrible. I don't really like how swords do less damage than axes. Shields are okay but sometimes get annoying. I think the elytra was a bad idea because it makes minecraft seem too modded and ruins classic minecraft. If Mojang just removed cool down on tools and weapons, that would be sooooo much better.
I completely agree, the only thing i have a problem with is the combat, I think the changes to the end make it more challenging and more fun, there is more to explore in the end rather than just the dragon, but the whole combat thing is ridiculous. Minecraft is more than just mining and crafting it's also about exploring, if the player is afraid to go exploring then what is the point? Before the update I would love to go out and hunt monsters but now I'm afraid to even leave my house at night to go chop down a tree because of the fear that a skeleton could be lurking behind another. I want my nighttime freedom back. Also for all the people who think that we are upset because we aren't good at fighting anymore, you are right, we got used to a certain type of combat and now that it has changed we are all out of wack, and it's getting boring, instead of going out and having fun at night I now see the night as something feared and not as fun. I want the old Minecraft combat back.
I like 1.9 since it added new combat items such as custom arrows, shields, and dual-wield option by pressing "F". While I like 1.9, most servers like Ecocitycraft require users to use 1.9.
So in summary 1.9 combat is very slow and they should've just stuck to just adding the good things like the Elytra, end cities, more potions etc rather than ruin pvp for all the people that have actual skill.
are you sure you joined the right 1.9 pvp server? because it doesn't happen to me.
Isn't there a cool down of attacking? And also, the update sucks.

So many mods, so little time.
Here, look, I'll do it for you.
It's a bit hard though... ever the danger of messing up and making it unreadable

Don't think about it, just click on the first one that comes to you!
Yeah but please take a look at the DPS. Swords are better than axes.
It just you. Not someone else.
Slower but trickier. That's how 1.9 update works. You need to corner him up so he doesn't run away.
You don't have to, you need to plan up.
As I said earlier, you need to plan.
Then why did you say everyone run away if they got killed?
Oh man.
It wasn't intense at all! It requires tactics.
COD is a shooter game, Minecraft isn't.
No comment on this one.
Now you're saying most people didn't know how to PVP!

My Suggestions
Well it depends I've mostly been on cubecraft playing 1.9 games like HG, Skywars etc. Then for training I go on Badlion.
Also what do you mean by "It doesn't happen to me?" like which parts don't happen to you.
Not everyone runs away. Also I play in mcpwn.net.
It's good, but could do with some tweaks.

- When you eat you regen like crazy.
True it mostly depends on which style of pvp you are playing. When I was saying players were running away I was mostly referring to HG, and other pvp minigames. Like you won't find as much running when you play on servers like kohi or badlion mostly because there is no where to run to.
