Community: Hey look! A thread with no comments! Lets leave it empty and let it die without even giving any thoughts! 2 days later: Me: What the... where's the thread.... oh page 10
Other notes:
> If you make a banner that doesn't link back to your thread, I'll hate you a little.
> Stop suggesting: lighted torch holding, retarded bosses, new dimensions, thirst, natural disasters.
> If you don't support a gun thread because it is "OP" and "unfitting" when it clearly isn't, (eg that musket thread), I will hunt you, and I will absorb your life essence.
Here is a rough outline of the idea.
When you die without the power to respawn, you go to the Nether (or maybe possibly the sky dimension also). Depending on how many aweful things you did which had negative impacts on other people before you died, you will be given a rank in the Nether
Self-Forsaken: Roughly 82% of all Nether souls make up this class. They were too spiteful to gain salvation but yet too unwilling to accept they were bad people. They are trapped in soul sand and can never pass that rank. However, thanks to the events of MC, they could leave the possess fallen human shells to create zombies and or skeletons and do bad things to respawn at a higher rank.
Peasant: 11% of all souls who go to the Nether are one of these. Either they tried to harm others and violate their own ethics and failed, or were just bad griefer. However, they still accepted they were not good people and deserved this fate; so they combined with animal spirits (who are incapable of knowing right from wrong) to become pigmen. A similar phenomenan occurs when a pig is struck by lightning, in which an evil spirit possesses the fallen mutation of a pig. Hence the smite enchant still working. They have the capability to move up the ranks.
Unsalvated: Ghasts are the radical idea of "unbaptized baby spirits" except more or less just someone who died before they developed their own sense of justice/ethics. It would be hard to put an exact percent on these, as they very from time to time. But I would say a good 3% are. The sad truth is they cannot move up from this rank either.
Dukes: These are highly revered spirits who have done many bad things throughout their lifetime and/or have intense malice/hatred for humanity. They manifest themselves as wither skeletons. Roughly 2% of spirits achieve this rank.
Lord: Right below dukes, in the transitioning phase. They are 1% of all spirits, and are about to become dukes in a short time. In other words, nonwither skeletons in forts.
Demon: The transcendant rank. Once you do enough evil, remove all good thoughts you ever had, and burn with hatred, you can immerse yourself in the lava of the nether. If nothing happens, you are not at that level. If you become a blaze, you are. 1% reached this rank.
Magma Cube: These have nothing to do with the Nether spirit system, and are simply mutations which formed in the nether.
Arch-Demon: You can only reach this rank if you merge with other souls full of malice. So the peasants are hit with the malice of the dukes, and the combo (Wither) surpasses the demon level. The only ones to ever exist are potentially created by the player.
Devil: Infinite dark nether power. Legend has it one of these exists. Whether it be the Wither Storm, or some outside presence which fills the Nether creating the magma cubes.
Sorry! I might get to writing it down some time, but it would probably be a small book... For now I might just comment on newer additions perhaps. I've been busy.

Dang man, a small book? That would be huge! Like, chapters in separate spoilers or something? my body is ready
Anyways, don't feel obligated or anything. Just, if you get the time and feel inspired, ya know. It's optional.
Woah... that would be... ahhh... cool I guess... yeah that would be great! Being able to speak about many features of a "little" game in matter of storyline is very good and could be a headache also. Be aware of what you will write. Maybe it will be an important task for many of us.
It is indeed a difficult task. As soon as 1 inconsistancy pops up, you can't ignore it; you have to rework your own theory. But I think once we develop a full-fledged maximally accurate story, we canmake sense of all the seemingly random content in the game.
Personally I think that Steve got a rather bad bump on the head, and will wake up one day realizing that this has all been a horrible nightmare. I might have actually said the same thing about Rick in the Walking Dead. It's probably because I secretly hope that someday I'll wake up and realize that this is all a horrible nightmare. Or maybe THAT WOULD BE THE NIGHTMARE AND THIS BE REALITY????????
ok, that's out now, good job guys. Interesting back stories. I haven't finished reading the whole post, but I will.

OK, it works. But this is the decanonization, like what the end poem did. It could still be a dream (although I'd prefer not), but if it is there would still be a lore behind the dreamworld.

You mean Minecraft, or real life? Just kidding. That is a very old idea, I think that Mark Twain actually wrote something about it, and I am pretty sure it didn't start there. Is life just a dream, or an imagining? You know that sort of thing.
This is an impressive thread. You guys have really taken Minecraftian origin study and turned it into a science. I'll be keeping track of this, that's for sure.

LOL. Life is not a dream, you would be overthinking something terribly obvious. But admittably it is fun to play around with the idea.

Thank you. The ultimate compilation has to be made eventually.
I finished the first attempt at a power level multiplier on the third post of this thread. I will eventually test it with every mob to see how fair/accurate it is.
But that is only an assumption you make. Philosophy 101.
This is no assumption, unless you reassign the definiton of dream to something completely different. A dream is both unconscious and subconscious, and if you feel control over your life (subjective, again) then you can not call it a dream or a fake because it is what you make of it. Perspecive my friend, perspective. Also, by definition a dream involves your brain, something which generates them from the outside world. So at worst life is an illusion. But even that's pretty radical. Since only the individual can fill in the details of their philisophical existence.
If Steve were trapped in a mere dream, would he really have THAT level of control over it? Think about it. Even if he did, the dream wouldn't last that long or be so consistent. Everything in Minecraft follows its own physics. And since we're making a conclusion Steve is a normal human, there is no way he could have such a complex long and realistic dream. It's literally impossible given the nature of a dream.
But I guess it could justify creative mode if it were a dream. But what would a command block be? A mind alterer? Pretty frightening considering what they could do. Still, Steve cannot do anything outside of the confines of the game. Mods don't count.
So I'm saying no to the dreams theory. Just an opinion, though. A personal conclusion.
"Wow, what a neat thread. I can read it through in a few minutes."

The funny part is everyone is writing full sized theories so the OP has reached beyond one whole page of comments length in plain text (confirmed because after editing it sinks to the bottom) in plain text. So you'd have to really try hard not to TL;DR. It's almost a community challenge. Except not.
Only the part about the Wither is plausible. I'll stick with the "Creepers are Sphagnum Moss" theory. You did, however, earn yourself a follower.
Fair enough. I would like to challenge the moss theory in particular though, because it doesn not explain music CDs or TNT. Also, if you have theories of your own I'd love to hear them. We are compiling all of the communities. Also, thx.
You misunderstood what I meant, I was referring to the fundamental assumption humans make that the universe exists, and that you are capable of learning about it.
I see

So, Dukes are wither skeletons? (Because you didn't mention this)
Yeah, I'll edit that. It was in the OP so I got lazy and left out that detail. Sorry.

Figured it was time for a change.
