So you are about to play mine craft for the first time but there are things you should know. The first time you play you want to explore the amazing world of mine craft. You will get to but now is not the time, so the first thing you want to do is find trees, you can then punch the wood until it is broken. You can then craft wooden planks with one peace of regular wood. You can have 4 peaces of wooden planks in a square to make a crafting table, the crafting table is the most important thing in mine craft because it crafts almost every thing. then you need 3 peaces of wool and wooden planks to make a bed. Then you need to craft tools. After that you are ready to make a home. A home can be made out of any material , has a floor , a roof and needs a bed. Put your bed in and you are ready to go for the night.
Now you have survived your first night it is time to get food, torches, tool upgrades, and house upgrades so there is no time to waste. You first have to find stone, so dig a few blocks down, take out your wooden pick axe and mine a stack of stone then go back up. So then go to your crafting table and make stone tools, and a furnace. Then get your wooden sword and kill a cow or pig. For killing animals you want to make sure your wooden sword has been broken. Now you need to find coal ore a stone block with black chips in it. Get as much as you can so after that go to your home and put your coal in the bottom slot and your food at the top. It will take a while until it is done so it is time for house upgrades. You want to get more wood to make more items. First make a chest and put it down in your house. Now make an extra room in your house. Now go out and kill cows for leather. You can then make leather armor. Now go check if the food is done if the food is done get it and eat it. If there are any left over coal take it and make it into torches for your house

In Minecraft, there is no definite way to progress. You simply progress the way you want. You don't have to follow any steps to survive, which I love about the game.
I have to agree with the other comments. There isn't a set way to play minecraft survival. I mean if you want to make a help guide for new players then that's okay, but make it less structured, there are multiple ways of doing things.
Look, we appreciate your time for making this but I just thought you should know that there is no specific way to play Minecraft. Generally, when I start a new world (which is very rare because I always play Multiplayer) I punch down a tree, make a crafting table and sticks, make a pickaxe, mine stone, make stone tools, kill sheep, make bed then sleep because that will likely take me 10 minutes depending on what biome I'm in.
ya i agree it doesnt matter how you play. minecraft is a game where you can do /build what ever you want. you may start with a dirt house or maybe even wood. what i started with was dirt than i got into wood and started that. all you have to do is use your imagination and start how ever you want (but yes you still need to know the recipe )

Minecraft - a game where you as a player make the rules. :>
this is so true, plus minecraft is a sandbox game so build what ever you want or do what ever you want c: you can even hug a creeper if you want

and 2 do you REALLY think noobs are going to be going right to the forums as soon as they buy the game? the guide should expect you to already know step 1 and 2

I agree with what you say but also disagree. You do need everything he stated but not right away. I lived without all of it for a while so you'll need it soon but not right away.
Why would someone want to follow a tedious guide on how to play a sanbox game? Unless somebody directly asks for advice on how to get started in minecraft, then sure, give them some pointers, but not a full scale structured tutorial on what and what not to do. What's the fun in not learning by yourself? Minecraft is by nature an easy game, so taking the only challenge (the first new nights) out of it without making mistakes just makes it bland and boring.
On my first night in Minecraft, I didn't know how to break trees or anything so I just went wandering (that being said there was no hunger bar so food wasn't an issue) and ended up in a jungle where I made a small tree house.

Yes I agree but the main idea of the article is to have the new player have a basic idea of how to play and craft
for those who are new to minecraft I have a bootcamp that goes over each aspect of the game from mining and crafting
to farming and animals to combat styles complete with shooting ranges and land navigation. I run it on xbox 360 as I have no pc. If you need to learn
or brush up or just want to learn some new stuff (potentially). send me a friend request

I would like to get a group of about 4 but I will be happy to assist individual players.
Also don't forget to message me about what you wish to learn and I will do my best to get back with you asap

Yeah
I agree with N4p4lm5tr1k3. It doesn't matter which way you play Minecraft because it's a sandbox game. That's what makes Minecraft, well, Minecraft!

@blootz I feel you on that. Which is a good point. Why sour the experience. Not to mention the everpresent mother
and father of minecraft wiki and youtube. There was a lot to the game I would have never discovered without some guidance.
Heck, I didn't even understand what the point of the game was at first.
That being said a few small pointers and a piece of advice or 2 go a long way. As for the original post I do agree
that there is no definitive way to begin nor to perfect any beginning.
