I have no doubts you've never heard of me, but I used to be a forum user back in the early stages of Beta, before I stopped playing Minecraft due to unliked changes in the community and people (specifically YouTubers and server owners) becoming power hungry and wealthy through children who didn't know any better. It's been almost two years now.
I returned to Minecraft and the forums to see that things are better. I have read about the EULA agreement and I think it's a good thing. I have read patch notes and I am happy that the core gameplay hasn't been touched significantly, and I don't have to worry about significant change and/or 'improvement'.
I have to be honest, before I left I saw the introduction of 'kits' in servers, primarily kits that allowed you to rise to the top just by paying 'hard currency'. Back in those days, soft currency existed (it was rare, though (and I'm not talking about economy based mods either)) but most players opted out and chose the easy way to gain items.
I think it's great that an EULA agreement has been introduced to halt server owners who abuse the popularity of this game, especially since it was released. One of the major factors I hated about playing on servers was known as Pay to Win. I strongly disagree with that concept. I believe that once you pay money to play a game, you shouldn't have to make microtransactions to receive unfair benefits. I believe that the EULA was needed, and believe me, it most certainly will not be the end of this game.
As for gameplay changes, probably the only thing I don't like are the underwater temple things. There were a multitude of other things to make use of the ocean. You may or may not have heard of Kerbal Space Program, they included user-generated mods into the game if they were popular and appropriate to the meta-game. I believe that Mojang should've done this with mods such as Mo' Creatures (but toned down a little, by not including some mobs) and I think that would have been enough. However, that's not my call and I'm grateful to see that players now have a use for venturing into the ocean.
I also think Strongholds, Jungle Temples and Desert Temples were a great idea, primarily because of the adventuring aspect. I play many RPGs, and if there's one thing I love, it's adventuring and exploring. However, 'The End' for me, personally, was a bad decision. This game shouldn't have an end game, it wasn't designed for that. That's one thing I'll never agree with (and if there's a mod that disables strongholds and/or the end, point me towards it).
So, I'd call this thread a quick analysis of the changes that have occured during my short break, and I hope to stay around this time to give my input and voice my opinion.
Thankyou,
-Spookas.
P.S. Ignore the name gearsofwar3, I was like 14 when I made this account, and the game sucked anyway Find me in-game going by the name SpookasHD (Spookas was taken D:)

The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.
Things have changed a lot. I didn't read your whole post, sorry. Also I wish my friend was the same. We use to play Minecraft all the time together but then he got into TF2. Then when I got TF2 he was into Skyrim =/.
