I am not new to Minecraft but very new to recording videos. I will get Fraps, assuming that is my best option but maybe someone can help me? What I want to do is to be able to record audio commentary into my video recording along with my brother who will be in another room playing with me at the same time on the same server. I am sure this might have something to do with using Skype but I don't have a clue as to how to put this together. I am a newbie!! Thanks to anyone who can offer help or if you have a link to a site or video that teaches this, that would be great too.
Get "Soundflower" and use that to have the audio channels automatically mixed in the recording. Its a little hard to set up but it works like a charm. All you tubers usually use it for Skype calls etc.
Thanks. That seems to be the way to go since my dad has some audio and video editing experience and he can handle that. I appreciate it! Now, to figure out how to use Skype for getting my brother and me playing together...
Before you get Fraps look into OBS(Open Broadcasting Software), it's free and has a very low ram and cpu usage which is perfect for recording Minecraft. It will, as long as you want it too, record everything that comes out of your main speaker output(speakers, headphones or a headset) and incorporate it into your video file. So if you use Skype, Raidcall, Ts3, ect. it will pick up that audio as well as the game audio and your voice if you so choose.
Also, if you choose to use OBS I've found that it is a lot harder to use that Fraps, Dxtory and other software but once you learn and get the hang of it it's extremely easy to use.
for recording I have ACTION. it couldn't get any easier than that. I hate how sometimes fraps make me sound low compared to the game audio. ive experienced that ACTION no matter what game I play I always sound dominant that the games audio. never used obs cant wait to try it
I have run into an issue with OBS. I downloaded and recorded some streaming but I cannot find any way to save and later edit (as in adding in audio commentary later). When I click File and Save, nothing and I mean nothing happens. I thought "maybe it is saving to twitch tv" so I logged in there and find nothing. I want to be able to edit out the boring parts and add my brothers audio but if OBS is not going to let me, I have no use for it. Anyone know what I am missing? I cannot even find anything by googling this problem. Thanks.

You need to go to broadcast settings and change the mode to "File Output Only", Then in the file path specify where you want your recording to be saved.

OBS records my mic and all the desktop noises so it picks up BF3 in my case and his voice.
Problem solved.

Also there won't be any probs with 2 voices, you can later mix them up.
