Asking on the Minecraft forum if you should get Minecraft is kind of like asking at a BBQ cook-off if people like BBQ.
But yeah, it's well worth it. You'll get months if not years of enjoyment from playing it -- I'm far from the only one here who keeps playing Minecraft while other, more expensive games have been relegated to the shelf. In a lot of ways, Minecraft is a toy, not a game -- it's something you can do other things with, as opposed to something that has set winning conditions, etc.
It's not just fun, but it's all kinds of fun -- whatever particular fun you happen to enjoy, Minecraft can probably do that. I'm one of the people who likes automating things, for instance. I have a push-button-harvested wheat farm, not because it takes so long to pick the wheat, but because I could; I probably spent more time building that than it will ever save in wheat-picking time, but that's my kind of fun. Some people here are already rolling their eyes and going booooo-ring, because they know that fun is only found in planning sneaky attacks on rivals' bases in multiplayer PVP. And there are the people who look at both of us like we're crazy, because real fun comes from exploring, spelunking, and seeing what's over that next blocky hill. And we're all right. That's what Minecraft is all about.
