I'm working on a server right now, it's only in it's configuration state and still have some gameplay element to check out. But i went a bit online to check for servers hosts and most of them stop at 8GO of ram.
But i wonder, is there a limit on how bit a server with a single world can be? Can multiple Hardware work on the same server? Is there a limit to the stability of a server?
Since Minecraft rarely uses more than one thread, consider possible waste when buying more than 2 cores. However this does not apply to mods and plugins which utilize their own threads - buy accordingly.
Depending on the OS running the Minecraft Server, you could potentially get:
Linux 45+ people you will need 6GB ram - and at least 30Mbit/s Up and 15Mbit/s down internet connection - this is important!
Windows 45+ people you will need 8GB ram - and at least 30Mbit/s Up and 15Mbit/s down internet connection - this is important!
Can you get more on your server yea Im sure you can double the numbers 90 - 100 people 16GB ram with 60Mbit/s Up and 30Mbit/s Down
of course the faster the internet the better chances your players will not complain about lag.
Setting up your servers on HDD or SSD with high read/write speeds is recommended
Thank you for the reply, realy usefull information. But let's go a bit crazy here. With no pluging and no mods, if i wanted to be able to have 500 poeple at the same time on the same world, is this possible, and having a stable experience for the player?
Let's just remove the money problem in this, i just wanna know if it's technicly possible.
