We can't give people ranks/items for donating because of the EULA change. So now what? You don't have to change anything. Just add the option to NOT pay for the rank! So pretend I have a rank called [SVIP] and it costs 15 bucks. Now its either 0 or 15 bucks. Users will have a choice to donate. People may just say to the 15 bucks, but you can add another suffix to them if they really donate. So
I pay $0 for SVIP : [SVIP] rajpop565
I pay $15 for SVIP : [SVIP] rajpop565 [Donor]
This would allow for donations and would keep Mojang happy, users happy, and keep you happy.
The only bad part of this is that users can "abuse" the system. There is no way to avoid this. So that is going to be my solution to this problem. Whats yours?
Some quotes,
"You are allowed to accept donation from your players. You can thank them publicly, or in-game, but can’t give them preferential treatment for donating. You are not allowed to restrict gameplay features in an attempt to make money."
"Can I offer a limited trial period for all users?
Yes. So long as both trial and paying users have access to the same gameplay features during the trial, we’re cool with it."
"long as any perks gained are cosmetic. Coloured names, prefixes, special hats etc. are fine."
What you just explained is redundant, because both methods of receiving the rank follow the EULA, which is because, in the end, for the people that are giving money rather than taking the rank for free, are only receiving a cosmetic reward.. and quite honestly, I don't see what player in their right mind would do this unless they are truly just donating to support the server.
Ranks could have other stuff like kits, and still would be following the EULA. Rather than removing or giving everyone the rank, just make it option to donate.
I understand what you are saying, but it seems like you are ripping players off, since it isn't a requirement to pay any money to access those features. It's like a fast food restaurant saying "Buy one large drink for the price of two and get another free large drink".
It would be less complicated to just set up a donation option with no strings attached.

I agree with the last sentence here. If a player truly loves the server they frequent and want to support it they'll donate. That's why it's called 'donating', really. All of these "solution" threads I've seen crop up all offer redundant, vague or plain odd ideas for dodging the newly enforced rules. Either offer safe rewards that don't fall under the EULA's radar or don't, simple as that.
Jeez people, just follow the EULA! You don't need to find some way to disobey it, the rules are very clear and fair.
Yep, whatever Mojang say, I suppose we need to follow.

You can not grasp the power of my avatar changing attack!
Don't be afraid to report vague, wishlisty, or redundant (Maybe all three) suggestions. Leave a post saying what's wrong.
