The Dominar:
The Dominar has played on a single survival world, whether single or multiplayer, for years upon years. You will typically find them with a large chest filled with diamonds, emeralds, gold, ender eyes, and other worldly goods. They will either have a 200 chunk castle, a prestige mansion, or a complex underground base. On multiplayer they will always have the highest rank, and constantly have drop parties. They will always stick to their one world or server, and will never play on another one because they will "have to start over."
The Arcane One:
Typically these people will have a normal house in a normal place, but walk into their door, and they have an arcane laboratory! These people will have rows upon rows of brewing stands, cauldrons, and at least one nether portal. Inside their chests they will have stockpiles of potions and potion ingredients. They will also have several enchantment rooms, as well as chests full of enchanted items. These people are a pain to PvP because of all their supernatural abilities
The Philanthropist:
The Philanthropist's play-style may be similar to that of any other type (except griefer, hater, or bad admin), but their defining characteristic is the belief that helping others is the most important thing, and it shows in all of their actions. A philanthropist will give away any items and blocks that they do not plan to immediately use, often running 2000 blocks or more to give them to any player that expresses a need, or to equip a newly spawned player with a vast array of starting gear. They are the first to come to the rescue when another player is lost or trapped, and starving, deep underground or in the Nether. They will often set-up 'freebie rooms' in their base where other players may take items at will, and often keep several fully-stocked guest rooms for travelers or a welcomed permanent resident to use. Philanthropists often take the time to gather as much of a requested resource as possible, especially if multiple players express a need and access is difficult or biome-specific, such as slime balls. If their help is requested on a project, a philanthropist will often abandon their own base and personal projects, living out of small huts for weeks at a time while they assist in large-scale landscaping, massive builds, complicated redstone machines, or simply lighting-up a large cave system to help increase the drops at another player's mob farm. If another player has a question about Minecraft, the philanthropist will spend as much time experimenting, or searching the wiki and forums for an answer as it takes to find one. Essentially, the philanthropist trades their TIME for other players' TRUST - the two most valuable and non-renewable resources in Minecraft.
I like the spirit of this thread. I generally hate "Who are the worst kinds of gamers" threads--they make me want to go rage-crash the thread and say THE KIND WHO HAS THEIR HEAD UP THEIR BUTTS FAR ENOUGH TO START AN OBNOXIOUS TROLL-THREAD LIKE THIS.
I don't think I fit anyone else's category. I do a lot of different things, but I try to do them well, to have real skill at them. Building, fighting, crafting, and I have a texture project that I'm doing slowly because I want to do it well. If I like a game I take the time to really get to know it, and MC is no different. While I game for fun and enjoyment, I am pretty serious about my own gaming abilties, even if i joke around about my mistakes. I don't aspire to be an expert, just skilled and knowledgable enough to have more freedom in my gameplay and not be held back by my level of noobishness. I know that to really know how to do something well takes time and practice, and that's what I focus on: spending quality time with the game, learning what I can, developing skills as best I can. It's like a long-term commited relationship in a way.

I know what you mean. I've played Minecraft so long now that I can no longer fit into any specific category and have probably fit into all of them at least once during my time. Now I feel like some old Beta player who knows so much that he's become bored and retired to shooting little kids on mini-game servers.

Formerly known as ORabbit around these parts.
