"Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled Trainers should try to win with the Pokémon they love best."
Yeah, none of that is working. The instant I start up the launcher it downloads the af version of everything.
If I open the launcher first, then do any of the suggestions, it goes completely mute and tells me pack.mcmeta is missing.
I've been playing with these sounds for over an hour now. It was hilarious.
I just have to say I spent days making my minecraft perfect and modded and they screw up everything by forcing this down our throats with out even a option not to do it. They just were like want tomato's on your sandwich well to bad eat the stupid tomato's anyways.
have you noticed the skeleton? "Helloooo!" "Hello I mean you no harm...J/K!" "Hello, come out!" I love the idea that he tries to trick you into breaking cover. Lava streams are fun too. "I am Lava! Stay away I will hurt you! Lava! Lava!" Also wait until it rains!

I'm backing this folder up. It's in "minecraft\assets\virtual\legacy_af", although mine didn't update until I switched to a profile that was using the default folders.
I've modified the resource pack linked so people no longer have to edit the sounds folder themselves. I've also removed all excess folders leaving only sounds, music, and records. It has been stated that this only fixes the game sounds and not the music (I can't confirm as I always play with music disabled), if this is the case just disable your music. If you can't play without background music for a day then you have bigger problems than Mojang swapping sounds on you. Also, I have loaded this up and personally tested it. It successfully replaces my game sounds with the default Minecraft sounds without any issue.
Quote the (now) two posts containing the fixes guys! Hopefully we can somewhat soothe the Complain-a-tron before it gets anymore out of hand.
I find everything to be funny and cute, especially the sounds. Been playing for over two hours now and still am okay with it. In fact, I find this whole change to be quite refreshing!
It's just for a day guys, I can't believe how you guys can be so easily worked up over a temporary addition for a mere game. Even more so when it is merely for fun by the developers and that there is also a default resource pack available for you guys to replace it.
At first I thought it was kinda cool because I've been turned into a Priest Villager but it made the game practically unplayable. I can't even hear if there are mobs nearby. I actually died from a Zombie while caving because I'm not expecting it. I'm not really expecting anything to come because I don't hear any growling of the Zombies or rattling of the bones of the Skeleton. Good thing I have a backup though because I know something bad is gonna happen because of these stupid people whispering.
Anyway, I guess the game is unplayable for me for a couple of days or so. I thought I can turn the game back to normal by switching the date and time in my computer but it didn't work so I can't play Minecraft anymore. I'll just have to stick to watching LPers in Youtube.
Hmm. I can't get the legacy fix to work either because I too don't have a folder name 'virtual' in 'assets'. While this is mildly annoying, I'll just play Hexxit in the interim.

Corrected Audio Fix For April Fool's Prank [Download]
-Everyone should know how to install a resource pack by this point, I'd hope.
Thank you, don't know how I missed your post reading through the first time. That pack is a godsend.
1. There is a legacy folder, but no legacy_af folder.
2. All the .ogg files anywhere under ~/Library/Aplication Support/minecraft play the original sounds. The new AF sound files are hidden somewhere else.
3. I installed the Default Resource Pack zip file, and I selected the Default Resource Pack in the game. This made no difference.
3. I downloaded the 2014 Sound Fix rar file, but the sound files that are already in the assets folder are not the new sound files. They are the old correct sound files. See point 2 above.
4. The only files that that have a timestamp of April 1 that could possibly (and probably do) contain new sound files are in the assets/objects folder. These are hashed & cached files without meaningful file names.
So this is the Most. Irritating. Prank. Ever. Yeah, it was funny for the first minute. WATER WATER WATER THERE IS WATER HERE WATER. But omg kill me, I built my house next to a river.
And btw, folks, some people don't play Minecraft every day. Some people find time to play it maybe once a month, so waiting "a day or two" is the same as waiting a month or two.

Yes there's an april fools. The title screen music and sound effects are really, really weird and hilarious. They have been replaced by voiced sound effects. Example: explosion is someone shouting "BOOM!"
If you want the default sounds then just open the the launcher while offline and when game is loaded reconnect. This worked for me. Hope it works for you. This is much simpler than changing/downloading files.
Unzip the pack into ~/.minecraft/resourcepacks (~ is your home folder; /home/<username> in Linux, C:\users\<username> in Windows)
Rename the "sound" folder to "sounds" in ~/.minecraft\resourcepacks\Default Resource Pack\assets\minecraft\
Open Minecraft, go in to Options --> Resource Packs... and choose the new "Default Resource Pack".

Okay, this one was awesome. I play with my sound down so all I heard for 20 minutes were creepy whispers. I thought it was coming from my DVD!
Edit: Oh my god, the music!
If I open the launcher first, then do any of the suggestions, it goes completely mute and tells me pack.mcmeta is missing.

It is not hilarious anymore.
This works with the sounds, But the music is still altered.
But the music however is tolerable.
Especially the GoT tune.

The 2012 was 5 days. Also to be fair your just ASSUMING this isn't a permanent change

Options - Resource Packs - Open Resource Pack Folder
Put the zip file in that folder.
