Okay, so I like to consider my computer being pretty decent. Specs:
GPU: Radeon HD 7870 2GB
CPU: AMD FX 8320 3.5 GHz
RAM: 8GB
and I'm trying to use the Sphax PureBDcraft 512x MC17 resource pack and when I launch Minecraft and select it, it crashes after a few seconds without loading. Then when I try using anything above 64x64 it will show up, it will load, but it won't select the pack. It'll keep moving it over, then loading for a few seconds, then take me back to the menu and when i hit resource packs it says I have to move it over again. I've reinstalled minecraft, used MCpatcher HD texture fix, and tried turning my graphics down. Help please?
Okay so I waited longer and it does load, but now when i launch minecraft it takes forever to load, is there anyway to bypass?
Nope. Huge packs significantly impact the loading time of the game and your frame rate will probably also drop quite a bit while using them. Personally I suggest sticking with packs no bigger than 128x as the vast majority of things you will be looking at in the game are going to take up that much space or less when displayed. (You really only get the full detail of a 512x pack when the block is taking up about half your screen on the most common monitor resolutions.)
