I would say bats are the most annoying - i *#$%ing hate them, and am compelled murder every single one I come across. If you think about it, cats are also a realatively useless mob, but have a certain charm as pets.
Aside from the fact that you seem to hate all sorts of things that really add to the atmosphere and challenge of minecraft, as well as adding depth to the game,
Cats are highly useful as creeper repellant. Keep them around your house, or following you, and you won't have creeper problems. Or do you consider not having your house randomly getting blown up occasionally, to not be useful?
Dirt! It's everywhere, you can't build anything nice out of it and it just lays around, staring into your soul as you grab your shovel to make way for more epic creations...
Have you ever watched X's videos? In the 3rd season of minecraft he said that dirt is valuable. Say you got 5 creepers coming your way and nowhere to run. There's a wall behind you and you got 64 dirt. You quickly build a staircase made out of dirt. You get to the top and there's a hole leading out of the cave but the creepers are following you up the staircase! You break a block of dirt off the staircase and go out of the cave with diamonds and iron. If it was cobblestone and you had no pickaxe you would die with your valuables. So dirt can be very valuable for a quick getaway.
Dead bush. I find it funny that the people saying lapis is useless dont mention wool blocks. Wool and is colored variant are all used the same way as bricks, stone bricks, sandstone, netherbrick, endstone, any other "building" block. Villagers can be very very useful as youd know if you have ever seen tangoteks videos, with villagers and the right knowledge you can effectively never mine at all. So my vote goes dead bush as you cant even obtain it in survival (does ST work on it?) and out of any aesthetic blocks it looks the ugliest haha.

3D Anaglyph mode is still more useless. It will basically just give you a seizure.
Bats. They always get in the way when I'm mining for some reason, which causes me to have to start all over. Them and Lapis. Yet to find the true functionality behind Lapis.
Emerald. It's mostly used as money with villagers but who does it?
I do that quite a bit. Got an extreme hills biome near a village. A villager there trades emerald for ten cooked beef, it's awesome.

SDM and Squid Army fanboys/girls. You're as ridiculous as each other. Gold=Butter=Gold. Why do you harp on about something as trivial as what people call it?

Wool can be used to make beds, which are pretty useful...

I appreciate every feature mentioned in this topic so far... 'Cept sponges, but I hardly ever think about sponges in survival mode. I guess the most useless thing in the game currently is the poisonous potato... :/

Rotten flesh is a pretty annoying drop, too. It is realatively ineffective as a food source, considering its effects are short-lived/slightly detrimental. I ussually will have killed at least a pig or cow or two by the time rotten flesh pops up, so by then its useless as an alternative first food source.
I would say the most useless block is gravel - It's a source of constant annoyance when mining, creates lag when falling, and fullfills no function that cannot be served by sand, except obtaining flint. Absolute waste of shovels =/
I would say I use gravel primarily for making large ugly structures that borderline on constructive greifing.
Cats are the only mobs that scare creepers. If you tame one, and attack a creeper, the creeper will run away because of the cat. This makes them superior to wolves (which kind of sucks, since I'm a dog person)
Rotten flesh you can eat if you just encountered an army of mobs, and you ran out of food. You can eat the rotten flesh to heal for a short period of time.
Gravel is like sand, but it looks different. Gravel could be used for okay looking roads in, say an adventure map. Also, gravel shouldn't create lag when you're falling. I think that's just your computer.

You can get further with a kind word and a gun, than just a kind word. - Al Capone
Cookies, they provide minute amounts of hunger and I could just be well-off using the wheat to produce bread, which gives me more food. Although, I can get eight, I still would rather just make some bread and take some saturation than having to eat eight cookies.

if you are in a swamp biome with no animals (or not enough) mushroom stew is really useful for starting.

Snowballs are pretty fun in my opinion
You seriously prefer 3D Anaglyph mode over Emeralds?

What is the purpose of 3D Anaglyph anyway?
