Hi, I recently just started playing minecraft a few days ago. I built my own farm and decided that I have wheat, and sugarcane. But I should get more things to add to it like carrots and potatoes. I wikied it and it said that I have to find a village or hope for a rare drop off of a Zombie. Only problem is I've probably killed hundreds of Zombies and no luck getting a carrot, and I've been walking around for hours and haven't found a single village. I don't even know if it even exists. I have the latest minecraft (I'm guessing), and when I re-create the world I have generate structures on so I'm assuming it's on for my original world.
I don't want to start over, and I don't really want to cheat, but are there any tips/tricks to finding one, I tried googling it and got very half answers which usually involved a "seed" of some sort or starting a new world, which I don't want to do.
Or is there any way to check if I don't have generate structures on in my original world. I would feel silly if I've been walking around for hours when there's nothing even to find. -.-
All I wanted was a carrot and I've been walking around for hours..
Well, I had heard that the zombies only dropped potatoes, but I could be mistaken. The best bet if you can't find a village is to build a zombie trap. Find a dungeon with a zombie spawner in it, then build a trap to collect and kill the zombies, allowing their drops (i.e. zombie flesh, carrots, potatoes, etc...) to be collected without having to hunt zombies. I see potatoes drop from zombies quite often, but not carrots.
Other than that the only real option is the village where carrots are already growing. If you have only been playing a few days then it is likely that there will be a village not too far away. But sometimes they just aren't right there, and you have to go farther to find them.

Useful advice, though, I haven't found a single zombie spawner either. I've explored plenty of dungeons (another reason why I'm sure my structures are on) and have yet to find even one. :\ This game can be really frustrating sometimes, it gives you the idea of exploration without the chance of being able to find anything sometimes.
And i've killed thousands of zombies for a potato.

So I'm assuming carrots and potatoes are just really rare and there's nothing that can be done besides what I'm doing. That really sucks but I guess I'll continue to search in my free time, I don't think I will be playing as much anymore though. It's upsetting to not be able to complete your goals in a game just because of pure bad luck.

I agree.
Potatos are fine the way they are as they are a very good food item when cooked, Carrots are just dumb, Why should breeding pigs be so hard?
