I agree fully with you.
The SSP-SMP merge... Oh god, the lag it makes. Stuttering mobs are absolutely not fun.
The new sounds... Seriously, what the hell. They are so realistic and really don't fit in the theme of minecraft. However, I believe C said that they are going to be optional. I hope so.
The new terrain generation? Just look at the did the terrain beome boring-thread.
Hunger and RPG features. They are terrible. Fine, force me to enchant to get a decent sword, but I absolutely hate hunger. It should be optional... Actually, Mojang said that it will be optional, but they forced it. The game is much more challenging without it, you actually have to think if it is more worth to take 6 porkchops instead of 4, because food doesn't stack and you may need extra space.
EDIT: Major Editing to stop with the the constant stream of people who apparently read one line and give up.
1) I'm going back to alpha
2) Minecraft is adding random bits and bobs
3) I have not lost faith in Mojang
4) Survival seems to be dying off while Creative is getting all kinds of additions.
5) I have had it with the weekly updates and some particular additions:
- Endermen suck
- Creepers are afraid of kitty kats
- Toss a bed down, sleep, done
- Half of the updates seem not completely fleshed out
6) If you tell me to use a mod or that everything is optional, turn around right now.
1. Ok. Cool. Shrug.
2. Some things random, most things have some kind of association with other stuff in the game. Examples would be helpful if you want a discussion of them.
3. Ok. Cool. Shrug.
4. In what way, exactly? It seems to me that it goes in cycles. Some stuff more for Creative, some stuff more for Survival. Some for both.
5. We don't have weekly updates. If you mean the snapshots, those aren't updates, updates are when the game launches and says there's an update. Sometimes they come faster than I like, other times not.
- Endermen: Suck in what way?
- Creepers: So? I mean, if you don't like it then fine, but what's your beef specifically?
- Bed: Huh? Done with what? Been there since Beta1.3
- Updates: Yes... some of them. I guess. Why would this make you want to go back to Alpha, where the entire game is not fleshed out?
6. Mods/Options/Get Out: Play how you want, that's always been the point of the game. And didn't you just complain about snapshots, which you have to go out and get on your own?
Seems like you're working hard to find things to be angry about. You don't have to justify to anybody why you want to play Alpha. Play it, big deal, have fun. Or don't. Your choice.
the new updates are butchering the old stuff from way back in beta and even some stuff alpha had such as land generation and cave abundancy seriously walk 2 blocks and you find a cave that contains 20 diamonds and 2 64 stacks of iron. Also the games act of stealing mods makes it go off in too many directions so it feels like your playing a poorly made mod pack that has features conflicting with each other and other features that are just stupid (i'm looking at you witches and potions.) .Not to mention it makes me so mad that no credit is given to the modders they stole from even though mojang has the right to use mods from the community i thinks its still wrong. But don't get me started on the new redstone. And also i would recommend back dating to 1.5 it was the last good version in my view.

Good, those were alpha and beta periods of the game, they were bound to be 'butchered'.

This isn't an argument, it's a provocation, and an ill-though out one, as well. If there are more caves, more space is being taken up by air, meaning less diamonds and iron will generate.

Really? Mojang is the developer of the game, they have rights to do whatever they want with it.
Oh, and you say the multiple strands of minecraft is bad? Well, maybe some people like building! maybe some of us don't want to play one game, we want many game variants in case we get bored.
Not to mention it makes me so mad that no credit is given to the modders they stole from even though mojang has the right to use mods from the community i thinks its still wrong.
They should feel honored that Mojang thought their mod, out of the countless sea of others, was fit to be in vanilla. There's nothing wrong, you don't need to be a moral crusader, and why are you worried, from your earlier content, you barely have the mentality comprehend what a mod is, let alone make one yourself.
But don't get me started on the new redstone.
Wrong, you do not start a sentence with a conjunction. Anyway, what's wrong with redstone? What did ethoslab do to make you angry?
And also i would recommend back dating to 1.5 it was the last good version in my view.
Why should be back date our game because of your pretentious view?

Ok, look.....EVERYTHING is an opinion, absolutely everything (except the conjunction thing) is opinionated, the redstone, Mojang taking mods from modders (and btw, they can do that, but feeling "honored" the Mojang took your mod, and, under it all, said it was their own is not what modders really think. I see where you are coming from, but look from another point of view when you post something), and even the cave system. All you are saying is that Craft4325 is supposedly "wrong" and you are "right." All it is, is an opinion, why does no one get that? I bet that, after reading all of this, someone out there is going to quote me and say, "Oh, but Rex, it is an opinion for this to be an opinion," or something like that. Please, look at the fact in front of your face, and end this conversation. There is reason to post your feelings about a topic, that is what this site is made for, but cutting up and bringing down someone elses opinion was not meant to happen. One more thing, don't quote me and try to have a comeback if you thing differently, either just say, "Well Rex, thats cool, but I don't think it in that way."

Well rex, that's cool, but this is an open forum and I can quote whoever I want.
I don't see what the big deal is really, If you don't like what other people do it is your fault? Why is that the reason behind everything, While It is overused but still true, I believe that, Minecraft is a game where YOU decide, Play what you want, use what you want, do Everything you want to do, enjoy it to your hearts content, even in RPGs you can decide what to do, In fact that is the entire point of the genre, If you don't enjoy the game after an update to something you probably won't ever use, Fine That is how YOU decided to play, Enjoy.
I haven't played early or late alpha but when i first started playing minecraft(around beta 1.2) i can kinda see what you mean. Allot of people don't like this "new terrain" or "minecraft has become to "easy" and i defiantly agree with it becoming to easy....
However think of it this way? what if they never added updates? what if the adventure update never came? and we stopped at beta/alpha you choose. would we have as many players as we haves today? would notch get the money he needs to make this amazing game happen?
theory 1: it would still be awesome
theory 2:It would die with lack of new players
theory 3:With no updates a New game might come out and youtubers might ditch minecraft ,Cavegame ect
theory 4:While classic was fun imagine the survival update not happening.
What do you mean by Alpha? Is that just an earlier version of Minecraft or another game?
It's an earlier version, in fact I think naming it Alpha is rather wrong, I think it's supposed to be named "The period where many players enjoy the game and they think it's ruined from beta and onward" is much more fitting.
Fun fact: If forum members said: "I started way back in Alpha" you are either in the "Recent updates and Snapshots" part of the forum or in a discussion (read=argument) thread.
There are always going to be tons of people that want to have all of the updates reverted, but those people are usually veterans. This happens in almost every single game that has been in existence for a decent amount of time, but the game does have to evolve in some way. My favorite experiences were during Alpha, but those memories are nothing more than nostalgia, in which I most likely would not enjoy as much as the current Minecraft.
Hey! Jetra its me! Dynamite? remember? sorry i was off hamachi for a while. And if the game gets to easy go to hardcore or Hard mode. Its gets much more challenging. Also restrict yourself to features
OP; I don't like it, goodbye!
Others; But I do like it, screw you guy!
OP; Whatever...
Not sure what you hoped to achieve with this thread OP, but goodbye and good luck. I'd say you are being petty and little by taking such actions but TBH that would be hypocritical of me as I primarily play Minecraft modded.
So I'm essentially doing the same thing as you by stating 'I don't like this, I'm going elsewhere' only difference is I'm going forward and you backward (don't mean that in a negative sense).
So yeah, bye and have fun I suppose. Gotta do what's fun even if that means retrograding.
I started a week or two before 1.3. I knew I wouldn't care about villager trading. I had a feeling everything would be a ripoff. And I was right. But it's a nice place to start a survival world. And I see little relation to D&D. Hunger adds more realism, Enchanting adds goals and makes things easier. Yes, I have thought "what if minecraft went back to where it started, being very simple and calm?". Then I realized "The people who make this need to make a living. And if they don't add new, exciting features to the game, it will lose its glamour and instead of 10,000,000 buys they would have 500,000. It would be this sandbox game you occasionally hear guys talking about. 'It was a cool indie game that had a good run. The developers just gave up on it somewhere along the road'. Rather than being a very highly respected name in gaming, Notch would be rarely heard of and usually talked of in disapointment". So I'm not saying that older versions are bad. I'm not saying we have to love the new versions. I'm saying the new versions had to be.

While all of your points are valid, pretty much all you mentioned is optional you don't have to do those things or use those items. It has been said before, this game is defined as a sandbox do what you want with it. You don't have to trade with villagers or use any of the new features.
did you really NOT read number 6, cause he clearly says not to say "it's all optional"
@OP - I feel you man. While I have lost faith in Mojang, I feel you bring up major things that are wrong with this game.
Unfortunately, you'll find (or have probably already found) that most members are following Minecraft starstruck wherever it goes, and cannot take negative criticism.. Whatever.
