If you want to download a .json file for a version that is not above, (e.g. older betas, alphas, snapshots) then make your own link. Simply take the link and change the end of it from .jar to .json.
If you want a list of the links for use in batch downloaders, or for whatever reason, look here http://pastebin.com/NjW5EhUy (Note: Only includes client release, beta, and alpha jars. No snapshot, server, or other jars are included in this list.)
Please notify me if there are any errors, whether it be on the PasteBin list or in the post!
Not if the assets are hosted by Mojang. I now know if they are hosted by a 3rd party it is not allowed, but if hosted by Mojang (assets.minecraft.net) it is fine. Personally I think Mojang should upload all versions of Minecraft for use with old mods.
Mojang does host older (i'm sure)
I've downloaded beta 1.7.3 from there and all (through MCNostigia)
The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
I see some of you are saying older versions are on assets.minecraft.net, so I'll try around with more URLs.
EDIT: Advertising other places aren't going to help any. People came here looking for jars. Not your crap. Links on assets.minecraft.net I haven't posted are useful, but not on other websites. As sunperp said, non-Mojang links will result in an infraction.
EDIT: What I crossed out, what does that mean?? o.o
EDIT: OH, I meant that if I didn't know about something there then a comment of that sort would be useful, but not if it was hosted elsewhere...but who cares now, all of them are on Mojang's Amazon S3 server.
I didn't seem to see anywhere on the forum where people have posted old versions of Minecraft for use with mods that haven't been updated. So I decided to start a topic about it! I couldn't find anywhere to put this, so I put it under General Discussion. Because, you know, it's a little generic. If you are trying to obtain cracked Minecraft, just go ahead and leave! The only files posted here is the minecraft.jar which will be no use to you unless you have the rest of the files!
So here's the jars... 1.5.x (Snapshots)
He's probably aware. It's much easier though (at least for me, and probably others) to browse, assets instead of downloading a program, installing, then finally downloading what you originally wanted to download.
So true. And many people want the real deal, not some other crap. Sadly I can only put jars on assets.minecraft.net here.

Always think before you post! Everyone (including you! - and I) make mistakes at times.
