Did anyone mention minetest for Linux? I'm not sure if this qualifies as a rip off, because it was more of a test to see if a minecraft style game could be built for Linux systems. Also, it was free.

Sorry, but Roblox has a forum also, and Mojang based Minecraft off of infiniminer and a few other games for different elements. Minecraft is in no way a rip off. And Minecraft is a lot better with its texturepacking, building, skinning, and modding community, and you can build anything in Minecraft, you must just not have played it enough to actually enjoy survival, etc.

It didn't rip them off. Not every building game that's blocky is a ripoff of those, minecraft is VERY different. Besides, roblox has a horrible community. And... Ahem... Does Roblox have 125 player free-for-all servers? I think not.
There are no Minecraft ripoffs. Some games have similar concepts. Get over it.
There are literally games with the EXACT same mechanics. Like, they steal the same concept of a 3x3 crafting grid, breaking blocks with tools, all that.
Building, digging, combat. Yeah, not exactly far-out super-rare mechanics...
No, I mean 3d, breaking pixelated, 3x3 crafting grid, clicking enemies to instantly deal damage and knockback, basically stealing the ENTIRE thing. Look at Eden for iOS and you will see.

They stole the inventory GUI, which is plainly visible. They stole the entire building style, similar to LEGO. They are under heavy use of undetected copyriht infringement, where players can create their own games, which are ripoffs of platformers. This isn't entirely the site's fault, but there visibly is a driving similarity between Minecraft and ROBLOX. The site had an update where they included a "terrain generator", which creates terrain nearly identical to Minecraft, except with wedges.
