I hate all the threads suggesting emerald/ruby tools and armor.
1. Ruby will never be added.
2. It will be a long time, if ever, that Mojang adds more tools.
Though I do like obsidian tools, it's just they need a really hard way of being obtained.

Another big annoyance is the constant. "Please add (said modmaker)'s mod to Minecraft!" and "Why isn't this mod in Minecraft?!"
Mods are amazing, nothing wrong with them, I love modpacks like Tekkit and such sure, but people seem to forget the trouble that it would bring to put this and that mod into the Vanilla Minecraft, not to mention the whole ownership stuff and what not. Rarely has there been any mod that was officially added to Minecraft and I highly doubt it will ever happen, if they start to add mods and make them an official part of Minecraft they could well end up crashing and ruining the game due to compatibility issues and what not.
Imagine if Bethasda went to the Steam Workshop, and took every high popular mod, and placed them into Skyrim because people like those mods, they will end up crashing Skyrim so badly cause it would simply take too much fixings to get them to work perfectly together.
Mods are there for the purpose that they are, to be hand picked by players and added on their own accord and it is how it should stay, I facepalm every time I see "This mod should be added to Vanilla" or similar posts.
Lovely thread. Now, we just have to get the suggesters to read this - heck, just getting them to read the forum rules before posting is an achievement in itself.
I have to say that I disagree somewhat with #14 (gold coins). I don't want them to be added now...but I think it makes a hell of a lot more sense than emeralds.
1. Gold coins are classic currency items...for anything
2. It would make gold less useless
3. It would make mining to get currency a practical option (making emerald ore your main source is silly, it requires a specific biome and is very rare, sugarcane and wool is the way to go)
As I wrote that, I realized that you could use a massive zombie pigman farm to gather tonnes and tonnes of gold coins, but then as I wrote that I realized that you can also make a massive paper farm...
Ahem.
1. Gold coins are totally cliche. EVERY video game has them. 2. Gold is very, very, VERY useful. Don't even START on the "it's useless" crap. Let me count the ways: A: Powered rails. I have mined over 7 stacks of gold on one of my world and I STILL don't have enough powered rails to finish my rail system. Requiring the gold to ALSO be used for trading would be stupid. B: Night vision potions: 'Nuff said. C: Invisibility potions: Again, 'Nuff said. D: Healing potions: See above 2. E: Invincibility apple: If you have a bunch of gold and you don't have anything to do with it you can make apples that literally make you invincible for 5 minutes. F: Clocks. Very useful when underground, even MORE useful when using short/tiny render distance. G: Decoration. Very pretty in gardens especially. H: Healing villager zombies. Gold nuggets are used for golden apples which are required for such a process. I: EAT IT! Golden carrots have the highest saturation of all food sources, making them valuable investments on long journeys or during intense battles.
You get the point.
I once saw someone 'suggesting' to remove lag. He didn't even know what it was, he was thinking it was a bug. Add the 'Remove lag' topics to the OP.

Above are plenty of rather insulting examples of various terrible ideas some people just won't let die. I apologize in advance for anyone I may have horribly offended. No really, I am sorry. I was given a place to vent, so I vented. Certain people on the suggestion board can really frustrate me at times.
(I slightly disagree with #5 of the original post, since in my opinion you can get away with taming spiders. I see them not as an enemy but more of an animal that needs to eat and just happens to pick you as it's next meal. Also I sort of think riding on a giant spider is kind of really freaking awesome. Mostly because when I was younger I had a dream about befreinding giant spiders, and leading an entire army of them into battle. Wait, just had an idea: make spiders attack cows and pigs.)
Edit: Forgot about necromancy. Not necroing threads, I mean actual necromancy.

Oh sweet lord, Ender Creepers....I'll admit, my skin is that of an Ender Creeper cause...well it's just funny to look at, but by no means do I ever want to see an Ender Creeper in a game, they would ruin it and be the cause of heavy rage and hate as they are the ultimate grieving mob.
I always see a bunch of suggestions for people wanting highly-complicated machines from mods to be in the main game. Can we add that to the list of "things that work as mods but not as official updates"
I found a suggestion 20 minutes ago suggesting villager slaves that make runways for you, so you can fly fighter jets. Sadly Princy_Deity locked it before I could literally destroy the thread with the goombageek technique.

If people want these in the game so bad they can simply google search for a mod of the title there's multiple for each. And completely agree with you on each topic.
Good man. But one thing, the versions suggestion is not, in any way, a bad one. It can be done relatively easy (simply a matter of having a archive of old releases uploaded to the server and reprogramming the launcher so that users can select and download versions (simply have it save them in the bin folder (eg minecraft.jar-142) and launch the one the user has selected)).
And as to optional settings, I only support these for visual things. Fancy leaves look really nice, and it would be a big shame to see them removed. But my brother would simply stop playing if he was forced to use them considering he already puts up with 10-15FPS using Optifine with everything turned off/down.

They might be overpowered as crap, same with Obsidian armor.
