Note: The first time I played minecraft was in classic creative in a skydiving map... I wonder how many people know what that map is.
When I joined my first build server in classic, people thought I was griefing because I was taking down my own building. I was like, "What the hell is a griefer?"
EDIT: My first reaction to the paid Minecraft was: "WHY IS IT LAGGING SO MUCH." I then learned how to turn settings to fast. I was seriously getting about 1 frame every 10 seconds. That was back when I didn't have a dedicated GPU.
one of my friends showed me in late alpha i got it in mid beta becaame obsessed just after full release now have my own server and loving it

im too lazy to tink of something better to put here so i will put this. cheesefingerchickenpizzalemon wow why are you still reading this is is not amazing, not special, not all that original or even cool?
My first reaction was o_O - Very Nooby
Then I was like - Learning Recipes, Furnace Functions, etc... - Nooby
Later I was like - Discovering Building Designs and Mining - Ummmm
Now I'am like - Redstone circuts, building to a new level - Smartass
Reason I started: Oh god, almost everyone I know plays this stupid pixelated game. I guess I'll have to try it if I want to know half the stuff they talk about. Then.. I bought the game...
1 hr later: OMG THIS GAME IS AMAZING I MUST DEVOTE MY ENTIRE EXISTENCE TO IT
"Da fuq is this ****? Hell no, I won't play it!" -1 year later- "I'm bored...maybe I should watch Tobuscus play Minecraft..." -11 episodes later- "He doesn't know what he's doing...I'd better just play it myself." -now- "THIS IS SO ****ING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!"
I'm a bit embarrassed when I think back to how I was happily babbling to my co-workers and family about this game called Minecraft that I had found. I dunno, just that combination of building, exploring and being able to interact with everything I saw. The rush I felt from it was euphoric.
The person who showed my how to play (who was also a n00b at the time) told me that you need to get logs from trees, because everything mines faster with logs. I broke about 10 blocks of stone with a log before telling my friend to shut up and just googleing for tutorials :3
Got sucked in by some gamer friends around the time beta 1.6.6 came out, I think, and it sort of cascaded something like...
"Wtf is this character? I can I change it- Yea I can, you have. How do I do that?" *Makes a skin*
"Ok better, this game is... interesting. It's better than solitaire I guess."
a few hours later
"Ok, I'm loving this game..."
A few days later, my first experience with TNT lead to ".....this game.... is the meaning of life..."

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
