Wrong, if you do that you'll eventually starve to death.
Your hunger doesn't deplete if you stand still. It only depletes if you're active, such as destroying blocks, jumping, moving around, etc. You can go afk for an entire day(real time) and not lose a single point of hunger.
Honestly, I think the game is fairly balanced. Hard mode could use more things to make it hard, but overall the game is fine.
I used to think Minecraft was too easy until today. I playing on on Normal and wanted to build a new house in thee desert. I had enchanted iron armor, enchanted diamond sword and and very well enchanted bow. I reached the desert and you know what happened? Four skeletons and a spider attacked me. Those arrows hit me and caused quite a bit of damage. I tried to create distance between us and shoot them with my own bow but I was too late. One skeleton finished me.
Just staying around your home won't make the game harder. You need to go out there and face the mobs. Even one Enderman can be a challenge (for me).
If that's not enough, take your armor off or switch to leather. And if that isn't enough, I don't know what is.
It would have to have been hard to "become" easy.
minecraft is not your typical "game" it's a creativity toy with some hack-n-slash thrown in.
I'll never understand the droves of people that request minecraft to be this deep, powerfully difficult sandbox adventure game that rivals games like skyrim and dragon age.
Do I think the game is too easy? No. Do I think it's not hard enough? Yes.
Difficulty is a balancing act. If you add too many challenges and never add more effective ways to tackle them, the game can become frustrating and unfun, even if the player actively avoids them. Avoiding challenge is not a positive thing either because, unless they set a goal to progress further, they'll burn out quicker (assuming they are playing a game for the challenge - Minecraft can get away with this because it's a sandbox on top of everything else).
If you add too many ways to tackle the existing challenges, and rarely ever actually throw in more mechanics or enemies, the game becomes easy. You also have to keep in mind that even if you left the game as-is for months at a time - players will naturally become better at dealing with them even without any new mechanics in their favor. You learn how to fight them and get practice. Fighting a typical zombie with a stone sword on your first day of getting the game might be intimidating - you might even die! Fighting a zombie with a stone sword a week later might be ridiculously easy - and actually taking even half a heart of damage might be an annoyance.
The issue with Minecraft is that the ways to overcome challenges are constantly evolving and growing, while new dangers are very infrequent. We have more ways than ever to obtain food, powerful weapons that can be enchanted, the massive armor buff we got a few months ago, alchemy... all while people come up with elaborate and foolproof traps or other systems where monsters die with little to no need for the player to actively kill them - and they still get the rewards from a cute little dispenser they can empty on their will.
And yet, we've only gotten a couple new mobs. Ever. The most exciting monster we've gotten is a boss that spawns in his own dimension. His existence does not affect you in the Overworld or Nether in the slightest. The sole reason he was conceived is to give players another goal, with no tangible reward beyond bragging rights.
We have more sophisticated combat mechanics than ever, and yet a zombie will still easily run straight into a pit and be trapped until the sunlight.
I am not complaining at all that we have all of these features. It's cool, but Minecraft already has so many ways to increase your own resource supply and even power to exponential levels, making even tiny quality-of-life changes has a drastic impact on the difficulty of the game. We don't need to nerf the perks and self-defense mechanisms. We just need more challenges. Stronger challenges. Different challenges. Stick them in Hard difficulty only if they are too intimidating. We need to stop seeing a new monster every few months, and see at least one with every update. Does it need to be extremely complicated with so much depth that it's a mini-game to even spawn it? No, but that's not a bad thing when we do get things like that.
Give us different levels of zombie health/damage/pathfinding. More creatures in some of the emptier biomes (*cough* swamp). These sorts of things would make a huge difference, if we saw these additions regularly.
Well, 1.4 will remedy the difficulty issue some by adding gear on mobs. Pathfinding is supposed to be tweaked, too. Mob traps will reward you with less experience for every subsequent mob.
Nether will have Wither Skeletons but for me they seem to be just taller Zombie Pigmen that are actively hostile and serve no other purpose than as a source of the Wither Skulls required to summon Wither boss.
And then the Wither boss, but of course that's somewhat the same deal as Ender Dragon in that you will only have to fight it if you choose so. Wither will require you to equip full protection diamond armor and use at least regen potions. I don't know if I agree with the decision to make it that ridiculously hard to kill when it is also capable of demolishing the landscape so much.
Other than that, I am already wearing just a Pumpkin, Iron Leggings with Protection III and Iron Boots with Feather Falling IV. That protects me from the things that are the most dangerous in the game right now. Wearing full diamond all the time, especially enchanted, is just overkill and removes all the difficulty the game had. All that damage reduction makes PvP more interesting however so it's a dual bladed sword. I'd still take less protecting armor instead and Wither's damage nerfed as it would be impossible without the current Protection enchanted OP armor.
I'm glad to see that steps are being made to help fix the difficulty issue with the upcoming update, but I still feel as though we are miles ahead the monsters even with those changes. Save for the Wither, which I have absolutely no experience or knowledge of beyond how to spawn it, there are no general dangers that you don't cause yourself once you've spent the first couple days setting up camp.
At this point in the game, we really need a dangerous update with little to no changes to player power mechanics, or several smaller ones that accomplish the same thing. What we're getting for mobs and their AI in the upcoming update should have been implemented a long time ago, perhaps even alongside Alchemy and Enchanting.
For now I just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope that we see more dangers than weapons over the next few months.
Alpha was hard, no beds, so if you built far from spawn, you were screwed, then it was freaking dark in caves, and at night, in beta, you would get screwed by mobs just by sleeping. Now all i need is food, and i regenerate.
No...
It wasn't hard in the first place...
For something to become easy it has to be first be hard.
I think with the advent of hunger the game's become harder/ more annoying. Mob farms are while possible to build much harder to make efficient then in the past. Zombies can now break down wood doors so no more AFKing in dirt shacks with functional doors.
I think Jeb should make a gamemode above hard made SPECIFICALLY for the very experianced MC player
"Specifically" "experienced". anyway try Hardcore with no crafting tables, Vechs Maps, no farming, and a lot of other custom maps, mods, and challenges.
I think these things should be made into mods and have been looking for them on google:
Digging zombies that dig through at least dirt
Blocks that are realistically hard
The inability to dig with bare hands and punch trees without sufficient tools
Here are some mods that do exist:
Terrafirmcraft (wont work for me)
Any gravity or physics mod
Hardercraft (has been discontinued)
Quarg's torch burnout mod
When I'm done building my colossal golden sky fortress, I want to know that it was because way back when I was able to fight off some digging zombies and did a whole lot of mining and searching.
i have been playinf tekkit more than vanilla because of how easy i can beat minecraft. i believe i beat it in 2 days. tekkit is taking me FOREVER. but i still love minecraft :3
The idea that a sandbox game could be easy or hard is ridiculous. There are no goals in Minecraft, it's up to the player to create their own fun. If the way in which you're playing Minecraft isn't satisfying you then change the way you're playing the game. If you like to fight players or mobs and it's no longer challenging for you and it's taking the joy out of things then try restricting yourself in some way by downgrading your armor, your tools, or limiting the amount of food you take with you.

Under no circumstances do I want villagers building ugly little houses in my world. That's my job. Link Removed
If you don't like it you can just use mods, you already gave an answer to yourself.
Dig 3 blocks and cover the top block? well you can still starve but thats gonna kill you if you play hard mode.
Minecraft isn't too easy, its just your imagination maybe you were a coward on survival and you don't even try to fight mobs that's why they don't even mean anything to you
Wrong, if you do that you'll eventually starve to death.
You're forgetting about the Enderman, Skeletons, Zombies ( who can knock down your doors ) and spiders.
If you think Minecraft is too easy then harcore mode should be piece of cake.
Zombies can't break down iron or piston doors and they can't break fence gates either. Skeletons can't shoot over a wall or through a house. Spiders can't get inside of a house (unless you let them in) and they can't get over lips in your walls either. Endermen aren't hostile.
All of the dangers from mobs can be averted by mining a hole in to a hill and sticking fence gates in the doorway.
I agree, Minecraft has gotten far too easy. While it is true that I have become a better player, the game has also gotten much easier and as a result I am bored from the lack of difficulty when I play.

Did something happen to you in your childhood to give you this unreasonable fear of rutabaga?
I do not want nor need another hard & challenging game, I have more than enough of those. What I want, and Minecraft fits the bill perfectly, is a fun game.
Minecraft can be made as difficult or as easy as you the player wants to make it. Either thru mods or just by changing the difficulty setting. That's part of what makes the game fun. You can do what you want with it.
There's too much focus on difficulty here. Minecraft is not supposed to be "hard," per se, it's supposed to be fun. Minecraft asks you to come up with your own challenges and to make the game into what you want. That's why there's such a vibrant modding community.
And the point of making a giant castle is that it looks freaking awesome. In my opinion the building aspect of the game has always been as important, or maybe even more important than the survival aspect.
Exactly. If you don't have a project to work on, you will invariably get bored and leave. Sure, you could dig a hole in the ground and hide there forever, but that's not very fun, and is not how to play Minecraft.
Can't make eyes of ender without crafting
Unless you hit some extremly lucky finds in the villages otherwise you are screwed D:
