notch said he would add in 2 dragons: the enderdragon and a red dragon. the enderdragon is alredy here. what about the red one? i dont think notch has been thinking about it too much. i REALLY want it. minecraft needs more bosses, and im asuming the red dragon is a boss. does anyone know about plans, news, or other information about this red dragon or perhaps other dragons or bosses? please let me know. thanks

2 Reasons why that may not be coming/isnt here yet.
A: Notch is the one who promised it, but he has completely removed himself from Minecraft to work on Mojangs other games, and generally manage the business.
B: You must remember we have been promised many things by Mojang, long ago, which were either denied later, or have gone entirely unmentioned. Such as the riot which formed when villagers were not Pigmen.
As for what we don know about the Red Dragon if and when it comes, It wont be a boss. They will be a rare spawn in the overworld, who will be the size Jean currently is. (Her size will then be increased.) They will be a significantly difficult mob to kill, will likely be capable of flying and walking, and it has been hinted at the taming is a likely possibility.
Jeb has been doing a fine job at building a reputation at ignoring posted upcoming features, such as red dragons and more underwater content. Instead he brings up features that were never forecasted, which although have been rather cool, seem to just ignore a lot of what has been hyped for upcoming features.
Don't get me wrong, I rather like the jungle and desert temples, super large biomes, tripwires, and such. But it is high time for a new boss mob as well as making the water more accessible. There are just two things Jeb and crew need to do for the water: adding a diving helmet or the such to enable seeing underwater clearer, and adding actual fish. I feel pretty sure that will seal the deal for that angle. Probably the only thing that needs be done with the red dragon is improving its pilot AI to avoid structures, and reskinning the enderdragon model.
I actually would love it if it was a super-rare spawn with an option to summon him as well. The chance of wandering the surface to suddenly see that sucker flying through the sky would ramp up the excitement of the game a lot.

In the real world, you stick your head in the dirt to hide from problems.
In Minecraft, you stick your head in the dirt to find problems.

It's not confirmed and Notch stopped working on Minecraft a while ago.
