I think the rarest item in Minecraft is Emerald Ore, it is extremely rare and needs silk touch to collect. While the Enderdragon Egg is not rare, but just unique. Do you think there are rarer items? Please post below!
NOTE: It is exposed to be an item that is possible to collect in minecraft vinilla survival, so don't go saying "Bedrock" or "Spawn Eggs" or some item you can only get through glitching/mods.

Supposed.
On topic, maybe some dungeon-only item like saddles or cocoa beans? I don't know, emerald ore might be rarer still but then again, the final version has not yet been released so it might still become more or less rare before it's final.
I'd have to say slimeballs. I've had plenty of saves where I've hit diamond, but I only remember one time in all of my Minecraft experience that I found any slimes. Except in flatworld, of course. Then you can't STOP finding them.

I'll fix that, thanks.
EDIT: ill add some of the other chooses to the question.
I rarely use redstone. Even in vanilla Minecraft, I usually only use it for lighting systems.
My most complicated thing involved a few repeaters and a stack or two of redstone dust. And a lever.
I ment the rarest/hardest to get, redstone is easy to get, and slimeballs are extremely easy to farm once you find a chunk. I choose emerald ore instead of enderdragon egg because the egg is much easier to get because you know were to get it. Emerald ore is a pain to find, being rarer than diamonds AND being scattered between much large levels, not to mention you also need silk touch.
I said Greater Golden Apples because they have the old recipe. The Lesser ones are highly outclassed by potions, but are much more renewable. The Greater ones require killing a crapton of zombie pigmen, although skilled players can take out huge crowds very quickly.
I'd say the dragon egg because you can only get it once per map, and that's provided you don't screw up while obtaining it and accidentally cause it to teleport over the void. Through lots of effort, you can get more than one greater golden apple, and emerald ore really isn't all that rare when you mine around in extreme hills for a while.
I'd say a Stronghold because they very rarely ever spawn, and you need ender eyes to even find it.
And theres the problem of finding a nether fortress for blaze powder...
x10000 = Enderdragon
You can only get ONE. All three strongholds lead to the same End.
Anyway, I think it's chainmail or bottle o' enchanting. The only way to get them on survival is to trade your emeralds (already really rare) with villagers (kinda hard to find without seed) and it's a pretty rare trade offer.

I'm going to mash signature stuff together: I tested 100% positive for MC addiction, I'm a black knight, support crappy trees, my color is red, and microsoft destroys to a cactus.

You think magic isn't real? Consider this: for every person, there is a sentence -- a series of words -- which has the power to destroy them.
I'll fix that, thanks.

Or turn ingots into nuggets....
That i should clear that up.
Villages seen in normal world: 7
Temples seen in normal world: 19
Greater golden apples come in second and saddles come in third.
Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
