ah good times...i joined in 1.6 and the game was just awe inspiring when i first joined, i would play for houres and make crappy houses that where just amazing to me, i could even watch yogcast and there purly amazing videos. but ever since the updates ive needed smp with tons of plugins to keep me busy. its just not the same. hell i joined a skyblock server and made my own bioms and it was beautiful. +1

What's this? Bigger biomes? You mean everything will be flat and the same color longer then before?
One can only hope for world type Beta to be added, far lands and all.
i miss the early beta days! i hate the new world generation so boring i can even memorize the biome lawl..

Minecraft Had Lost It Sparkle Since Notch Changed The World Generation In Beta 1.8.. Why Bother Playing Again And Again If It Will Always Looks The Same , Dull , And Boring.. Try Google "i miss the old world generation"
i agree the grass is dull its all flat swamps suck
the problem with downgrading to 1.7 is that all of the stuff who made minecraft better is gone... mod AI more stuff in the nether... a long list WHY CANT THEY BRING BACK THE 1.7 GRASS ATLEAST!
I do like the enchanting, brewing, the ravines and strongholds... but yeah, I also agree with you on the dull and boring terrain. It just makes me want to vomit. Solution?

minecraft is like an old x girlfriend.. she drove you nuts.. you spent hours with her in the past.. and when you see her all the old feelings come back again.. and then after a few minutes you realize what it was you hated so much about the crazy freak.. so you break up with her.. untill the next time your in your room and spot her in the corner.. then it starts all over again..
your post got me reminded of some old seed I found back in July 2011, I even made a thread about it at that time. http://www.minecraft...-at-cloudlevel/
its literally impossible to find such landscapes with the new terraingeneration.
another problem I see is the biomespecific tint everything got, the new generation produces a lot of snowbiomes and those are always very bald and cold, they look literally depressing.
Do you remember coordinates of these forests?
I found some, but they're smaller than on your screenshots:
I joined in 1.8, but my friend who showed me Minecraft had screenshots from his favourite server that was shut down as soon as 1.8 came out, for exactly that reason. I almost cried because of that. But yes, 1.8 was a lovely update, especially with the addition of hunger and more structures. But some of the old terrain generator needs to be brought back, and with the new Anvil world format this could be possible. Have mountains with lots of trees going up to like 200 or so blocks high, with snow at the top. And forests with beaches and vast rivers. There should be waterfalls flowing down from a giant cave generated inside a mountain. This is the Minecraft I want to see.
Well, if you want the old days back, you could get NBXLite, for the worldgen, old days mod, for how the game acts, and retro sound pack, if it's old enough. Hope I helped!

OldDays has old sounds.
Anyway, Owl Exterminator said that he only misses world generation, so NBXlite will be more than enough.
I totally agree with you on that. The generation of Minecraft was really the only thing I hated. Mountain biomes usually have low mountains and only 2 of them. There aren't any gravel beaches.
What an incredibly touching account of your travels in my world. Wow, I don't know what to say except that I was deeply moved. I remember those buildings and hills, know them like the back of my hand. That world is where I learned virtually everything I know about the game, it's as real a place as any to me.
Unfortunately they aren't going to change the world generation -- not enough people are willing to voice their displeasure without screaming like mindless currs.

I've been playing since 1.2.5 and I respectfully disagree. I still have the very first world I ever generated in minecraft, which I played on until 1.2 beta. I was considering giving 1.2.5 Alpha a quick go since I still have the jar from it backed up. Most of the difference for me is from before I knew much about the game; such as my first day jumping around happily beating pigs and chickens and cows to death. Then night fell. I was not expecting the hostile mobs at all. Cue me running around like a chicken with it's head cut off until a creeper blew me up.
Looking at my old worlds- everything is so terribly built. I have several buildings without a roof, since a roof was unnecessary (since spiders couldn't climb walls at the time), I had no idea how to find ores.
The big memory for me is my first frustrating experiences with getting diamond, and more specifically getting to the nether, which was like my goal. It took me over 2 weeks just to work up the courage to go down below. I ventured below the ground. I was cautious. Always on the lookout for danger. I managed to find diamond, but had no iron pick. blast. So I kept looking, and finally found iron which I smelted on the spot. crafting myself a pick, I returned to the diamond I had seen (with some difficulty).
Now my obstacle was in identifying obsidian, as well as mining it. I already knew something about making water touch lava, but my experiments kept yielding only cobblestone. I managed to make a single block of obsidian this way. I continued my travels. Then I found a bed of obsidian. excitement! I mined a block and quickly learned a hard lesson, which is "don't stand on obsidian when you are mining natural formations of it underground". I lost all my lootz. But I gained experience. That is what I miss. The trial and error; not the terrain generator.
