Oh, cool, I wasn't here for a while and wouldn't have guessed someone found this topic again Thanks for your opinions and votes, guys
@Ric_Adbur: Since I'm not sure if anyone "official" ever reads either of them, I guess it actually doesn't matter. Also, I made this post to find out how people react to this idea and how it could be improved. I planned to make a suggestion out of it once, but never made one.
I said yes but i would still want to rarely have a hot biome next to a cold biome.
Yes, a rare occurrence like that would stop the generation becoming too monotonous.

No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...
No temperature control is the thing preventing the terrain from being absolutely hated. I think it's nice and random with snowy and hot biomes being placed near eachother. Only varied thing left in the terrain. Now, no one's convincing me otherwise...
To all of you people who think Notch is still working on the game, he stopped working on Minecraft in late 2011. Get your facts straight and stop spamming his twitter about Minecraft updates.
Nobody else would go for it but I might be interested in an option to have a more realistic layout - the snow biomes at the top and bottom of the world and jungles in the middle etc. This would limit the size so you'd have to pick the size of the world you wanted to start with and in what region you would spawn. Would need more biomes to keep the terrain varied and interesting.
I like the idea of having to travel and explore to find the biomes and having them in places that give you an idea of where you are in the world.

If Biomes can be very thin, like only 1 chunk (16 blocks) wide, you could have hot and cold biomes very near to each other, they just wouldn't touch.
@v3912 and animecraftguy00, would you like or dislike that ?

Snow happens in deserts, child.
