I'm thinking I'm not the first to do this, but I'm gonna post anyway. I have finally created the ultimate sheep farm, you can now get your wool without using hardly any dyes. I can't believe that sheep retain the color you dye them now, even when sheared. So now all you need is the bare minimum of dyes to get all the colors of wool you need. You just have to make a farm that has at least 15 pens in it, make sure you have 2 pair for each color to start and dye them. You will be overloaded with colored wool before you know it. The castle on our server has a rather large farm, with this new addition under the old barn, it is like a fool time job taking care of these sheep, but I just can't believe how easy it is to get the colors now. Just thought I would post this just in case some of you didn't know about it.
im not sure, but what I think he means is that if you have blue sheep + blue sheep they make blue baby,
shear and kill babies ad infinitum, or use them to exponentially increase wool production by means of inbreeding.
Sorry guys I probably wasn't that clear. What I'm saying, is up until now if you sheared a sheep that was dyed, then bred it, it would not regenerate the color you dyed it, it would be white wool. So what I'm saying now is, you dye them breed them, get maybe 6 or however many you want, then shear them, breed them all, and you will get the color that you dyed them. Unfortunately no, they do not grow the wool back and you have to kill them/get rid of the ones you shear eventually. The great thing now is that like I said, once you get all the colors going, you are as good as gold as long as you don't kill all the sheep.
Here are some screen shots of said farm. The colored sheep are actually one level below the main barn, they are penned in the stone walk way that you see in the screen shots.
I knew this but i never realised that i could bring it to a massive scale. I wonder if i took a blue sheep and a red sheep would it make a purple sheep? I'll get back on that.
Well dying 2 sheep diffrent colours which can mix does not seem to produce the mixed wool colour

Okay, an up date on my continued experiment with the colored sheep. I have finally finished construction on a new facility which resides under the old one. I first tried to build it out of glass panes, but they seemed to easily glitch through that. The above pictures you can see the main portion of the barn I used fences, they work pretty good, but they tend to get out every once in a while, especially when I have the pen real full.
So, I constructed the newer pens (14 of them for each color except white) out of stone, well that worked better, but I would still log on and have sheep in the halls. So, I wanted to make the pens bigger, and more uniform, also one of the guys on the server said we should try to double the walls, I didn't want to be we went head and tried it. So, underneath the original colored sheep farm is the new one, and it is a lot larger then the one made of stone in the above picture. It is also made of stone, the pens are 13x10 blocks each, and they have an airlock system with the doors, there are 2 sets of double doors for each pen.
It took us a couple of days to hollow out the space and get the grass grown in, and then build the walls, then all we did was open up the ceiling and drop the sheep down to their new pens. Well I'm happy to report, two days and counting with no escapes. I have bred them at least 3 times, their numbers are getting quite large already, I would say on average 8 in each pen so far. The only problem thus far is the glitch through the ceiling, haven't escaped yet, but annoying anyway. I'm finishing the storage area down there, and then it is done, and I can get back to the massive underground tree farm, and all the other projects we are working on. I will try and get some shots of it later tonight so you can all see. Oh yeah, the new pens are marked with colored wool now so you can see what color of sheep is in each pen, a strip of 10 blocks at the top of every pen.
I'm just very happy that I can log in now and not know that there are at least 20 sheep roaming the halls.
Suicide? Chickens can kill themselves? Maybe I'm overreacting, but my number of chcikens has been decreasing lately. DX
Yes, they commit suicide. The will shove each other into the blocks/fence if it is a fence. The only blocks that won't hurt them is glass, I think lightstone because it is like glass, not sure. I had made enclosures out of fence, glass pane, stone and it didn't matter, I would come back and instead of 5 chickens find one, oh, and of course feathers and the meat.

No, it gives you one or the other, not a mix.
Sadly :dry.gif:

Color markers in the main corridor.
Happy sheep.
More markers.
These are the air lock like doors I was describing.
Enjoy.
Blocks for decorating.
I believe it's part of the pre-releases right now.
