It would only work if they could put the textures of the minecraft blocks onto all of the lego blocks, otherwise it wouldn't look that different from regular legos. I know that they've put textures on some blocks, but it would be really expensive to put textures on every block.

I don't think it would have to look very different from regular Lego. It will alrady look different because it's all made out of squares, not much else is really needed. Take this pic for example:
That image is 100% Lego. I think it looks just fine the way it is already. But that's my opinon.

That would be so epic to have minecraft structures made out of legos on your desk. That and Lego would make millions no doubt. This really should be done.
Anyways, here's my version of the Desert set mentioned in the first post on on CUUSOO:
Hope you like it! I'll make another set for every support this idea gets on CUUSOO from now on until I run out of sets to make. So support it if you want to see more!

I've also made a more size accurate version of the Desert set:
I'm thinking about selling these sets myself until the idea gets enought supports to become official. Depending on the feedback I get you should hear more about this soon.
Thank you both. And if you like it please press the support button on the CUUSOO page. :biggrin.gif:
I'm updating the first post with a few things right now. If you would like to buy the sets that I'm building please vote in the new poll I'm going to be putting up!

I'm not sure hwat you mean. Look at the first post and the posts above yours for examples of the sets. There are fairly detailed and do not cost very much to make even if I made them myself (I've calculated the cost of the desert set and it came out as $20-$25 with profit) with the exception of the peices on the top of all the bricks because those are pretty new peices and are therefor rare and more expensive if someone is buying them from a 3rd party.

That ok. It is only 3 peices to make a sinlg block. More if you have more advanced blocks like ore and coblle but the overall cost isn't increased too much per block.

I don't think Minecraft is too similiar with LEGO...
If you're looking for something similiar to it, ROBLOX is, and ROBLOX and Minecraft always get compared, for some reason I don't understand
I wasn't going for being completely similar in every way. LEGO is a lot more popular than any other building block company and will therefor sell more products. This, plus the fact that Minecraft is about to hit 4 million purchases mean big bucks for both Mojang and LEGO.
Also, I've just put in a request for a sig to support this in a sig shop. Hopefully that will be done soon, but for now, use this and replace the perenthesis with brackets:
I supported this, I think it's a great idea. Certainly there would be some licensing issues, but frankly if I were Mojang, I'd let Lego run with the manufacture and implementation, and pull a cut from each unit sold (not that unusual for some legal licensing agreements). This would minimize up front costs and make both Lego and Mojang money.
That said, Lego certainly has the operating capital to lump sum the license and keep the residual profit, but if they were at all concerned on whether the product would move... there are licensing arrangements that would make everyone happy.
Not really lol. Especially if they use stickers.

make it 18 year old now. can we make it to older people?
Haha, hopefully we can make it to older people. Hopefully the power of the Minecraft community comes around to help out soon. Right now it's at 12.
