Very true, actually. It just seems like the whole network of griefers in Minecraft have resulted in prejudice against new players. But, it is a fact, not many people who get on the internet use common sense, logic, or intelligence. A lot of them probably have it, they just choose not to use it. Whai u think ppl tlk leik dis?

But, I still hold my position that if they want to play they should pay. It's too big of a game with too many features constantly growing and expanding that I think making it free would be illogical. If someone wants to play an amazing game with a huge community and constantly growing mods, I think they should just cough up $20.

But if you make it whitelist, Sneaky Greifers can apply to be on a whitelist and destroy the server.

As already said, its already free. You can just download it.

Agree'd, except on that last part. I would be a bit mad if they suddendly decided to make it F2P, but I'd trust them to have some sort of compensation for buying it.

It will become free to play when Notch is done with the game and releases the source code. He already has plans for this but not for a long long time.

Half Life 1 & 2 say Hi. All of those games, in one way or another, have been given away for free while other people still have to pay.

Just because people HAVE paid doesn't matter.


OT: Maybe after Minecraft has aged a few years. I don't see the point in making it F2P at the moment.

And keeping a public server is any better?

Whitelist the greifer, let him grief, ban him, repair the damage immediately (See: world backup. Its easy.)

YES!!! minecraft should be free. i dont own the game (because it costs 25$) it just seems inconvient for me to get it. I don't have a credit card and i am not able to put money on my pay pal account. so come on Notch make the game free already, you have accomplished making the greatest PC game of all time so i think its about time to make it free. Won't happen unless they completely ditch the game and forget about it. They'd get no profit out of it. The only reason games like Team Fortress 2 are incredibly successful with the F2P model is because the company get's profit out of the game through other ways (Like Mann. Co store from TF2)

1: it would tick off the players who paid
2: it would ruin multiplayer servers
3:and having to wade through 8 year olds just to find a decent miner would suck
4: also let notch make money imean he did make one of the best games of all times

The free to play model almost (yes, almost) always guarantees pay to win because the company needs to find some way to monetize on the game, and it usually ends up costing more in 'in game upgrades and purchases' than if you just bought the game to begin with.

COME ON. I'VE HAD IT WITH THIS NECROING. I'm sorry to sound mean but I'm getting tired of seeing 10 year old threads a week being bumped in each forum.
