I don't think that would be a good idea but you never know. It could happen i just doubt that it would become free to play

Free to play would cause bans on servers to be of Zer0 effect because you can just create a new account and rejoin.

And yes, there is a way to change your ipso ip banning is out of the question as well.

I see most people are talking about greifers big suprise. The trolls who actually bought the game are probally the main problem about this they will not make this a free to play game they just wont.

Not right now hear are several good reasons:
1: Mojan needs money to pay the divelopers ,and pay for their servers (skin ,relms ,login+)
2: People who just go on just to troll who probly won't be on if you have to pay
3: Huge over flow of pay to play servers
4: It would be annoying for the people who got the game right be for it became free

Notch has said that once that have stopped making money the game will be free ,but that will take a wile.

It used to be Free2Play but it was sooo popular that the servers crashed, which made them set a price for the game, so no, it should not be free.

The only way to make minecraft free, it would become online, filled with ads with little contents and the users would pay to disable ads and get extra items. That's how the most popular games became online like the Settlers series.
