Know what's funny? When people point out something wrong with the game fanboys are the first one to shout "It's a BETA you idiot!" However, when it's time for praise they conveniently forget that it's a beta and not a finished product. Call me crazy, but I don't think Mojang deserves **** for an unfinished work. It's like me winning a grammy for a song I'm working on, but I've only got ten seconds of it done.
Could not agree more. I think we should all start making a game, make half, and sell it for $10/pop.
Then we don't finish it. Basically the same work ethic Mojang has at the moment.
Also I'm pretty sure this is all time. All time Valve have made way better games than Mojang ever will.
If you're not a fan of Alien Swarm so you want to vote Mojang, why are you trying to push your opinion onto others to vote for Mojang then?
OFFTOPIC: Runescape Classic was so much better than "Runescape 2".
The very fact that Mojang has made it this far slightly irritates me. While you may state that this is purely a 2010 tournament, you must be aware if we are going by games released, Mojang has none. If we are going by quality of games, Valve receives my vote, as Minecraft is only a developing game, we have no idea what will happen to it. I strongly dislike saying things like this, but this tournament is truly being run by whoever has the most fanboys.
Simply my opinion on the subject, I do not wish to partake in this discussion.
Edit: Excuse me for repeating things that have already been said.
It IS a released game, is it not? Does it cost money? Is it out to the public? I'm not a fanboy, I'm simply not a fan of Alien Swarm. I personally adore CSS, but considering thats not exactly 2010, I'm going with Mojang. Besides, winning might put Minecraft out of the "stupid little lego game" title it has.
PS: I'm getting tired of "valve time" too. If we're going to compare companies, Valve is far more dissapointing than Notch Mojang.
Nope. I don't accept the arbitrary restrictions you're trying to impose on peoples' voting. Valve is still a better company. Hands down. No contest. Laughable to consider otherwise.
Valve is more disappointing? Really? They've released some iconic games. What has mojang done? Aside from potentially scam me out of my cash since it looks like this game will be done some time in 2020. I like Minecraft, I really do, it's a neat concept, but it doesn't deserve to be on that list and it didn't deserve to beat any of those other developers.
Can't have your cake and eat it too. Either this is a work in progress, and if so it doesn't deserve to be on the list, or this is the finished product, in which case I feel a little jipped.
Valve: Released numerous critically acclaimed games and revolutionized the PC gaming industry
Mojang: Extreme Legos Sandbox Beta
Decisions, decisions...
Also, where the hell does it say you should base your vote off games made in 2010 OP? I'm pretty sure it says "VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE DEVELOPER NOW."
I could see people voting for Minecraft if it said "VOTE FOR THE DEVELOPER OF YOUR FAVORITE GAME THAT WAS POPULAR IN 2010 EVEN IF IT ISN'T FINISHED NOW."
If we want to be really technical, Minecraft hasn't been released in 2010, it was updated to a different stage. If it has such a title, it is probably due to the fact Mojave has goof'd a lot for a newer company. Why should a company be rewarded for digging a hole it can't climb out of?
I'M ONLY GOING TO SAY THIS ONCE alien swarm wasn't created by valve it was crated by a group of modders that got some money to make and its free http://store.steampowered.com/app/630/

No matter how right you think you are there will always be some one standing by to correct you.
I disagree. Minecraft is closer to being a Dig Dug clone. Especially with music blocks controllable by walking and monsters in underground caves you have to dig out. And only certain blocks are affected by gravity.
I just beat Portal yesterday (shut up), plus this, so Valve gets my vote for sure. Mojang is going down here, they're already way behind.
And that's the way it should be, Valve is the much better company.
If Valve looses this, they will RELEASE EP3 FASTER!
Vote for Mojang for faster EP3! :biggrin.gif:
No matter what you say, Episode 3 will come before minecraft goes gold so vote for anyone you like.
And by gold I mean all the bugs ironed out, considerable content and stuff, not just a gold suffix.

Minecraft isn't a game that should be released. It should be constantly updated. Bugs? I don't see much bugs. Compared to HL2 that is.

Tell me a game breaking bug in half life 2 or even a noticeable bug in the game.
I can list plenty of bugs and problems in minecraft, stuttering and unstable framerate, loss of sound on certain sound cards, buggy multiplayer, buggy beds, minecraft booster cart glitch, no Nether in MP, portals on different locations than the previous one, invisible people on multiplayer, constant spazzing of stuff on multiplayer, missing chunks, invisible chunks in multiplayer.
You can just look here for all the bugs, If you couldn't notice them then I would have to ask you to remove the shades of fanboy and take another look.
Bukkit does not count because it is a mod and not made by mojang.
ITT: A lot of people with a very bad case of blind devotion to the latest internet fad.
I think a lot of people here need to calm it the frick down. Monkah, you can stop clinging to your one line argument about how all VALVe released last year was Alien Swarm. Srsly, you are making yourself sound less than intelligent.
When I was filling out my brackets for the competition, I pegged Mojang as making it this far, to the point of going up against VALVe. I predicted the early rise they had by defeating Nintendo [whom lets face it, kinda lost their path after the Gamecube], and even the shock win over Epic Games [who hold a very special place in my gaming heart]. But I predicted they get knocked out by VALVe. And at the moment, with VALVe holding 61% of the votes, it may appear as though my applied knowledge turns out correct.
I'm betting a hell of a lot of people screaming for Minecraft to knock out VALVe weren't there when the original Half-Life was released, the game which pretty much re-defined the FPS genre. I guess they also never played Counter-Strike, the FANMADE mod for Half-Life which [along side the Unreal Games {godblessyouepicgames}] re-vitalized and brought the idea of online multiplayer deathmatch to the masses. I'll admit, I wasn't a fan of Steam when it was first being rolled out and forced onto your PC if you wanted to play Half Life2, but nowadays I find it a very stable and handy gaming platform. Thanks to it, I've managed to get replacement copies of Fallout 1 + 2, and a couple of golden oldie FPS' [Quake <3]
This is NOT based on one years contributions to the gaming world, it's an overal popularity contest for game developers. And in my eyes, VALVe have contributed a HELL of a lot to the PC genre over the last 13/14 years. All Mojang did was create an internet fad. Sure, its a catchy and damn addictive fad, but its a fad nonetheless. It's the poor persons World of Warcraft, something you can dump hundreds of hours into without realising. I played Minecraft pretty solidly for a few months, but I've gone back to Warcraft myself.
As a whole I can't see Minecraft winning. And if they do, it'll only be through the brute forcing of thousands of Minecraftians running to vote the minute Notch pops a tweet about it. Srsly guys, he isn't a god.
OP... I think before you make yourself look even more foolish, you should actually consider that minecraft hasn't actually been released yet. So your arguments are completely invalid.
Also, you seem to be unaware of the fact that steam is owned by valve. That alone gets my vote.
