Did Salient actually bother to read Notch's blog post on the matter?

The web server is struggling, we’re migrating
Once again, minecraft.net is more popular than the poor old server can keep up with, so we’re upgrading. I’m not quite sure how long it will take to get done as it’s mostly Tobias doing the work (thank you, sir!). We’ve got a huge amazon cloud server which we’re moving the main server to. We’ll be able to replicate this as demand grows, and we’ll have a load balancer set up in front of it all. Skin downloads will almost certainly be migrated to S3 downloads instead of going through resin as it does now, and we’ll have a separate server just to handle game logins and auth requests.
So...yeah, the problem is actually being fixed as we speak.

For what it's worth "cheap-ass Notch" is migrating to a cloud-based system hosted at Amazon, even as we speak.
Because he had no choice but to do so. And he also waited way last minute to do this
He put black oak floors in his office before he upgraded the servers think about where his priority is from what he has shown us this far.
Now like i said i am in the flooring business and oak flooring will range between $7-$12 per square foot
just a 12x12 room would run him around 1300 dollars and looking at the photos from his blog showing his office he is prob dealing with $4000+ in flooring
Considering how often the argument of Notch's millions comes up, do you really think the purchasing of this flooring is coming at the cost of money for Minecraft's development?
Its shocking how many people think money makes a business any easier to run, it just makes it harder because everyone is bitching at you to throw it out a window for them.
That sir, is call the example.
Please, it is not that hard to understand it.
Also, if that was sarcasm... Please do not use sarcasm on the internet.
I was commenting on it, it was a surprise to me as I did not know, and plus, I can use sarcasm if I want too on the internet. Shoo.
Using sarcasm in the internet can be a dangerous thing, because they do not hear the tone of voice you're using.
Unless, of course, with microphone talking where people can hear your tone of voice.
No i do and have run a Business and i can not tell a contractor sorry i cant put down that 5000 square foot of hardwood floors you want the way you want it at the time you want it because i would lose business.
So all of you morons who keep talking about running a business at least make some ****ing sense when you post.
Running a Business means you meet the demands of the customer first and everything else is second.
(aside from someone in the family being really sick)
If you try to run a business with me me first attitude like Notch is it will fail.
With this sentence, all your credibility alongside with your intelligence, has vanished.
Seriously, such a comparison is idiotic on so many levels, i don't even know where to begin...
This post doesn't prove anything except call him dumb.
Explain why he is dumb? How about that to begin with.
He has no idea how much work Notch has to do.
A few examples:
A. Paperwork (TONS AND TONS)
B. Meetings (Several types, some lasting hours on end)
C. Attempt to find tiny bugs in thousands of lines of code
D. Reply to people that are whining on Twitter
E. Plan his wedding
F. Spend time with his son (PRIORITY)
G. Relax after all of the above
But the funniest part? They are migrating RIGHT NOW to better servers, yet people are complaining.

Not really, as sarcasm is easily detected even in text, Only Genii can though.
See?
World of Warcraft is in no way comparable to Minecraft, as World of Warcraft has some of the best support and best CGI trailers for video games in the industry, and is owned by the richest video game company in the world.
So? Shush.
Ya but We're talking about BUGS go read the post again.
Also, since we're talking about Blizzard.
It took them around 48,36 hours for answering my support ticket.
I am not patient.
Too bad you're just another troll with baseless arguments, go blow Notch some more, and be sure to bow to your NDF poster.
My god, some people here are seriously sad beings... (and if you can't even figure out for yourself why such comparison is idiotic, then you shouldn't even post, end of discussion.)
Thank you for demonstrating you: A. Lack knowing what a troll is, B. Assume saying the total obvious means i'm a fanboy, C. Are being totally rude and thinking that somehow makes you -appear- more intelligent.

Its more that they've been in business a long time and have grown alongside the games, they have a very good knowhow on how to run the company, something Notch lacks, and will for a long time. He basically won the lottery.
Um in no way was i comparing the game world of warcraft to the game Minecraft you tards.
Since you missed the point I guess I have to explain for the kiddies out there.
Wow - Tones of money and dev work yet still has the same issues as a indy game like minecraft.
So the point is these problems you whine about are universal and not because notch or his staff are lazy. Also I think its funny that people think they are entitled to anything once they buy something. Yes I admit there is a level of quality but seriously you bought the game as is, be glad that you are even entitled to updates and free content. Most companies would make you pay for such things like Wow.

You can normally find me lurking about on the #archlinux or #archlinux-offtopic channels on freenode.net.
I have been lost in the nether for a few days now.......
I have to say, after reading this guys rant, I have to agree: what have we paid for? The latest login issues are unacceptable, yet there is no one to hold accountable. We've all paid for a product that doesn't exist yet, its a little ridiculous when you think about it.
They way I see it, you just gave some random guy money over the internet. If it makes you feel better, think of it as an online scam, but you actually get a product of some sort! Fascinating! Is it not?
I personally paid for the game as-is, like it says on the webpage. :smile.gif:

This forum ticked me off so much I went to random.org and set my password to something I'll never be able to remember, then switched my password reset to a throwaway.

I don't understand what you're on about. The fact that he's so busy servers as the primary issue of why he doesn't hire more people. Sure he has like a 3 men team, but adding a few more moders wouldn't hurt... Hell, he could just ask for help from the current moders who I bet would be more than happy to help him implement the codes they written into the official version in less than a week.
The lottery is random, anyone can be chosen, there is no leaning towards someone.
But Notch came up with an original idea, worked hard on it, and people liked it (before you say it, it was popular before the YouTube craze).
He didn't win the lottery, he won a prize after hard work.
You realize how many indy games are made every year right? Alot of them have tens of times more work and love put into them then Minecraft, and Notch is only rich over them because he picked a home run idea to make, one that he simply built for fun, thats akin to winning the lottery in game development. Notch did NOT ever plan to make this much money, he never sat at his house and said "this idea is amazing, i'll make a fortune off of it." No.. its more like someone making a gun in their garage for fun then suddenly they have a billion dollars from Military contracts to buy it.

^ I've yet to meet anyone whining about the game like this that doesn't think its because they're entitled to whatever they like just because they payed for the game.
Guess what, all 1 million of the rest of us did too.
And we got it for 10/15 euros.
Im more than happy with this game.

I thought it was a good analogy.
Exactly what i thought when i just read your post.
Unless i read it wrong and you were calling him out on the comparison rather then the game itself, then my bad.
