Also, Notch will blow his $540935349034920 on drugs and gambling and eventually blow him self up with a model creeper that he made in his closet with real gun powder.
In the year 2021 Mojang will have made a similar building to Encom Notch will have opened up a minecraft arcade behind one of the computers will be a secret room with a plasma beam that shoots you into the world "Minecraft" His Uncle will then get a text message from Notch which is linked to the Arcade. Uncle tells son that he got text message. Son is all like lol whut Notch trollin ? He goes to the Arcade and puts a quarter into computer and it comes out of disk tray. He goes to pick it up noticing the floor has curves and he moves the computer and sees room. He walks down the stairs and see a ipad sitting on desk. He touches the ipad and laser beam turns on and zaps him into Mincecraft where Notch's perfect clone that looks similar to a creeper tried to make perfect minecraft world.
Story goes on...

This forum ticked me off so much I went to random.org and set my password to something I'll never be able to remember, then switched my password reset to a throwaway.
Top two computer games in 2001 were "The Sims" and "Roller Coaster Tycoon".
Of course, Minecraft isn't anywhere near one of the top games this year. 10 years from now, people may remember Minecraft as the beginning of a genre, but I imagine that we'll be laughing at how silly it was for us to be wasting time with such a game.
I don't know if this has been already quoted but i laughed out loud :biggrin.gif:
I mean, it was awarded as a top game by many sources :smile.gif:
You have a very narrow focus. I have a job in the industry, and know what people are talking about, and it is not Minecraft.
Minecraft isn't pushed at your local electronics store, and that is where most sales come from. If it's not in a store, then it won't be given as a Christmas gift. If it's not on Steam, XBLA, or PSN, that alienates a good portion of the remaining market. Lastly, you aren't shooting a gun, and the game is not polished. For these reasons, most gamers that I know will never buy the game.

The titles in 2011 will be even bigger, and I really don't see Minecraft as being a big mover in the market at all. The truth is that people have been able to overlook the lack of focus in the game because it was only in alpha. Now the game is in Beta, and we still don't know anything about player progression. Will there be XP? Will you unlock skills, or more recipes? I think this lack of focus on design is really going to hurt the game once it goes live (leaves beta).
Seriously, I don't think anyone is going to remember much about this game 10 years from now. It may be remembered as the start of a new style of games, but clones that come out between now and then will be much bigger than Minecraft ever will be.
To be clear, I don't think that it's bad game, or that Notch doesn't deserve the money he has made so far. I'm excited about the future of the game, but I don't think it's going to be big enough to matter much 10 years down the road.

You don't really know why minecraft is a good game, do you?
If there was XP, unlocked skills, unlocked recipes, ect, most of the players (at least from what I can tell from the vocal players) would quit. Let me guess, you probably think that minecraft should have HD textures too?

Wait, why would Notch release it on what will surely be an outdated gaming platform in 10 years when general PC's will continue for much longer?

it will develop quickly and get more immersive and more and better physics
it will become an educational tool to teach some basic skills
and as it gets better physics etc- it will become more and more part of peoples lives
and I am not talking about this exact game, but what minecraft has started as far as open immersive interactive worlds
there will be a game like this as long as there are computers
it can only get better from here
I hope it is minecraft that evolves into what I can see coming
but if not mojang, someone at will take the ball and run with it
we need Spawn Control Mod!
