TODAY was one heck of a day. It felt as if I was being tormented, but by who, I can not say. There was a man, one person, who just had to ruin my day. Someone who picked on no one but me. No reason, no one else. Just wanted to pin horrible crimes on my expense. Today, I was the target of a griever.
IT STARTED sometime when I joined a small server. Nobody there but one or two ops, and a couple of innocent looking users. Not too much room to build, mostly because of a few hills. But, at the center, was a beautiful bridge, and a nice lake. But this would be the beginning of a terrible problem, with no resolution. BAM! Blocks gone! My path, obstructed! I saw only one person, who I will refer to as TrueBuddy95, and not his actual name. I simply jumped down, and asked him one question.
"HEY, did you grief?" Boy, that was an awful mistake. TrueBud responded simply, "No sir." Unfortunately, I didn't decide to give up, and asked him once more. I knew it couldn't be any one else. "Why are you trying to incriminate me?" The fight that ensued was nothing short of infuriating. I ask him questions, but he doesn't respond. He calls me psychotic, pathetic. But I don't give up. I couldn't let anyone get away, I thought. But eventually, he starts slandering, any grieving that would happen, he would say "I wouldn't be surprised if it's Manatee."
EVENTUALLY, we both got a kick in the pants. We apologized and went back to building. Oh, and I state a lie, that no one was around when the bridge got grieved. The op didn't do anything, just said "Okay then." Then things started happening. A man, who I thought was Mr. TrueBud, grieved around my facilities, always using his hacks to get away in a hurry when I yelled for help. I never saw the mans ID, though, so I couldn't point fingers. It happened for a while, until I came out and screeched "TRUEBUDDY95 DID IT! IT WAS HIM! I KNOW IT!"
I was kicked. And it would be the last time I would come back.
So that's why I write you now. Please, if anything similar happens to you, please tell your story.
I can not relate to this story, as I have been lucky enough to be op whenever I run in to particularly well-learned griefers. I don't know why other ops don't stalk untrusted people regularly. It's a very simple and useful method.
However, I can tell you that your username kicks ass.
I'd just like to say... I teleported to TrueBuddy multiple times and didn't see griefing. Not saying that he didn't do it, but I don't ban anyone unless either multiple people see it, or an op sees it.
I kicked you both because you had been arguing for a long time and flooding the chat.

You didn't see him 'cause he managed to get away before you could teleport over.

I wish hacks were never invented...
You got WoM to blame for hacks.
Does anyone on this forum not have the ignorance that the top hacks result on google prior to the update was not made by WoM?
EDIT: Also, I'm usually lucky to get the griefer who is a complete idiot. For example, they expect me not to notice when they flood a huge ass cave which produces 200 chunk updates, or I teleport and they continue along deleting.
We left the server (after backing up) and all the cool animals - even the ones we hid underground - were destroyed. In seconds.
I read the server log for the evening and found who it was, banned, and reloaded.
We read up on how to prevent griefers and built a cage. Then built a MASSIVE cage, connected by a tunnel, that is our hamster cage, complete with wheel and stuff.
The first escapes were our fault, as we'd missed a bit of wall...
The other ones were people who were playing's fault, as they told them about what I call the "climbing bug", which is where you spawn inside the bottom of a tower. This means people can build up and spawn on top of the hamster cage.
This game needs to have one more block high, so there's not enough space for people to get up top if you build there.
They also found that you could just put a block on the inside of the first cage (which led to an unbreakable tunnel across the map (which people can "climb" out of, too :tongue.gif:) and pressed "r" and were out.
The first person told everyone who came in, and it kept happening.
One even said: "oh ****! Id never have told u if i no u were griefer. ops ban him"
They were just trying to be helpful, but they should've respected the cage. lol
This is really a shame, as we made half the map cut off from the rest, so there was a "public when we're not around" and our bit, which we could let people in, if they were going to be nice.
Some people just want to escape any measure you put in place to stop griefers.
Now, we've got a cage that you can't escape from, but you can't see out of it. (not that there's any cool stuff left to see... :sad.gif: )
This kinda defeats the whole point of having a public server running when no ops are around, eh?
So, really - if you have to go so far as this, you may as well not run a public server when yr not playing.
Which really sucks, because MOST people are cool. It just takes one wanker to ruin the whole thing.
Usually the people with the hack client.
Not only does it disconnect people frequently, it makes it soooo much easier for a griefer to fly around and delete massive stuff, like the panda we made.
There should be something in the game that allows people to auto ban anyone with hacks or using the java client that allows these hacks.
*sigh* at least if we always back up the server_level.dat then we can put it back to how we left it. Seems every night someone will come on and grief everything that's not a square house (and even them sometimes).

We've decided to have a public map and a separate one for when we're online.
seems a good solution.

Me and the mrs and some friends we met made some cool stuff - here is some:
