HKIA is the main airport in Hong Kong. It is located on the island of Chek Lap Kok, which largely comprises land reclaimed for the construction of the airport itself. The airport is also colloquially known as Chek Lap Kok Airport (赤鱲角機場), to distinguish it from its predecessor, the closed Kai Tak Airport. The airport has been commercially operational since 1998, replacing the former Kai Tak Airport, and is an important regional trans-shipment centre, passenger hub and gateway for destinations in Mainland China (with 44 destinations) and the rest of Asia. The airport is currently the world's busiest cargo gateway and one of the world's busiest passenger airports.Terminal 1 is the world's largest terminal building when built in 1998 after closing down Kai Tak Airport, and now it's the third.
Looking really nice, and accurate too. As a pilot in this strange 'real life' business, I am a little upset at the lack of Concorde in your screenshots.
Yea, but it never made it to the new Hong Kong Airport

Looks really nice. I like how well lit the interior of the airport is and how the glowstone blends in with the design. Getting lighting right can be hard. Especially pleased to see planes, I personally have had no success building a plane so it's nice to see an example of it done right,
Just curious, inside the airport there are glass barriers along the upper floor passage and it looks like they're made of glass blocks instead of glass panes. Is that just because glass panes hadn't been implemented yet when you started this map? Or did you deliberately want glass blocks instead of panes?
Also it's massive! The scale looks perfect! It really makes me wanna have a fly around the map. Will you be planning to release it once it's complete?
Thanks for the complement!!
Do you mean this? I think it's the rendering software.
About the release it's still too early to tell, the airport is severely incomplete. Now it's already over a gigabyte so there's difficulty even if I finish it.
