So the title pretty much sums this up. I'm working on a project but I need to take a signal generated in the over world, into the nether. I have been looking around but haven't stumbled across anything yet.
Just a thought and have not tested it myself, but maybe, if you set up an ice and water stream just before the nether portal (overworld side) you could have a dispenser fire an item into the water stream where it will build up its speed on the ice and if it had enough volictoy it might get sent one block outside of the nether portal (nether side) where it could land on a pressure plate and activate you're signal...
As I said not tested, just throwing an idea out there...
Another idea I just had would be to send a minecart through the nether portal activated from a dispenser, and if it could connect to a rail line on the nether side it could ride over an activator rail to trigger you're signal...
Of course there is something major I'm forgetting here in order to get it to work... and that is the loading of the nether, so in order to get a signal through it would have to be loaded by another player, if you have friends on the could help you that would be great, for me I use a split screen guest to sign in

I will give it a go. Already tested the minecart. It stops on the obsidian. Maybe I didn't speed it up enough. For the project, having one player will work. The idea is to use a seperate portal, far enough to not link. The signal goes in one, the player goes into another. The. signal would activate a series of
dispencers to spawn a ghast and hit it with speed and invisibility. I'm using the nether for boss fights but I don't want to use pressure plates on the player
portal. I want the player to be as unaware as possible. Using pressure plates on the signal portal will do just fine though. I hope it works
If they would give us active loaded spawn chunks like on pc, projects like this would be so much easier, as I know it possible to load other dimensions on pc without the player be there but we don't...
Another way to possibly activate a system like this would be a bud switch triggered by the player portal where he exits the nether portal and triggers an invisible bud in the form of a redstone ore block and when they step on the ore it ilumanates and sends a singal to where you want, this could also be activate by a floating string too, but these methods may give away the element of surprise that youre looking for.

Again just an idea I had!
