I've successfully tunneled (3x2) from spawn to the edge of the world and now I'm working my way to the other side. So far I've connected my spawn town with two additional castles along the way and one Water Temple. Has anyone else successfully tunneled from one side of the world to the other? I would love to videos if anyone has them.
Trying to being some discussion back to this forum instead of the countless MP threads.
My friends hand I have done this several times, actually.
Our typical method is go get the game going, then someone heads to 0,y,0 and starts construction of a mine. We all pitch in, get down to bedrock, get a warehouse setup, and some auto-cookers, and have at it. Then it's up to the team to find the villages, get some enchanted diamond pick-axes through trading, or by making them after a couple hops into the nether.
Sometimes we head in a common direction, or head off, one to each compass point. We have learned, over time, that Lava SUCKS, and right down at bedrock (y=4) you see a LOT of it. We have just started a new map, and are trying it out at Y=12 to see if that is a little better. (more Diamonds, less "OH GOD I'M COVERED IN LAVA")
Typical time riding a minecart on the rails from one side of the map to another was something like 6-8 minutes last time I checked. Corner to Corner is double that. Our newest map hasn't been up that long, so we're just getting started on the rail lines, and there's some discussion about whether we want to stay underground, or, this time, try and above ground, elevated rail line.
