Like others have posted, this update is both awesome and disappointing. The new blocks, getting to PC 1.8, etc is fantastic. But the world generation is awful. I was definitely one chomping at the bit for the new update to come out, even started a new world on a good seed posted here that had a double spawner near player spawn and left it unexplored pretty much waiting for the update. Now I wish they had taken more time in testing and especially on feedback. Which begs a huge question - does 4J/Mojang even have a preview beta testing group to get actual user feedback? Seems pretty critical for a company this big. Even crappy commercials on TV get audience tested prior to launch (though sometimes you wouldn't guess it).
World generation is horrible. Where are villages? Why can't it deal with pre-loaded seams in old worlds? Where are real mountains? WHY so much ocean?? I don't want a huge map of islands, especially when boat mechanics and landing is so awful.
Sometimes launching the game itself crashes back to the Xbox One home screen.
Loading the world mentioned earlier as the first world loaded would crash back to the Xbox One home screen while loading spawn area unless I loaded a different world first and then exited. Then it'd load fine. But now after loading 2 other old worlds this one loads just fine for some reason.
Issues everyone knows about like map walls not working, doors not always making closing sounds, zombies not having armor, and tons of other odd bugs that I've read but not run into. The map wall issue is huge to me but really the poor world generation is the biggest issue and probably not easily fixable in a smaller patch update.
So how long does 4J/Mojang usually take to release smaller updates like CU20 to fix just issues? I saw on the bug fix site there are hundreds of reported issues unassigned and random odd ones that are actually assigned to people. Plus the holidays.
Just really disappointed in so many things about this update. They really should have more actual players beta test these things apparently. I love playing on the Xbox One but apparently the 360/PS3 versions are really hindering the One/PS4 verion - these really, really should be separated. I'm trying not to have to build a media PC for just Minecraft PC but at this rate that may be the best route because this is frustrating. Just don't want to sink more hours of my life into an incomplete product.

I should edit/add that I have found villages, they just seem exceedingly rare, especially anywhere in the home map of spawn in the 15-20 games I generated as tests. Seems like when I explore entire 25 square maps fully there are good squares that aren't dominated by ocean and do have villages but they aren't the center map for me. Maybe as time passes better seeds will be found and posted. The bug fixes would be nice though, surprised some like map walls got by testing.

Updates seem to flow out once a month or so. I expect late January myself. Big content updates have happened in Dec 2014, June/July 2015, and Dec 2015 (so I'm not sure if that holds any pattern) but smaller bug fix releases occur each month or thereabouts.
The seed "Golden Apple" (without the quotes) has a decent size village in the center map if you want to check. It also has another village 1 map down and 1 map to your left of the center map. It has a 3rd village 2 maps to the right and 1 down from the center as well.

Thanks, I'll check it out. Just finished mapping out a seed I saw on Youtube that I'll post about under the Seeds forum too.
