With the CU 19 changes to include the new biomes, will we also be getting the new World Generation algorithm as well?
This means that the same Seed value will generate a different biome pattern across the world than it did before. Basically I want to be able to use http://chunkbase.com/apps/biome-finder with the "PC (1.7 and above)" option set. Hopefully the slime chunks and other locations there will also be 1.7 equivalent now on Xbox One as well.

Crap... just got the new update but the world generation algorithm doesn't look like it matches PC This blows my plans out of the water as I had my eyes set on a particular seed... what's worse is that the biome-finder below doesn't match at all what's being generated now on any of the version settings.

It shouldn't be an issue as the area that is there should be the same -- 25 maps worth of area should be good, you just wouldn't see the area outside of that.
The site still has version selectors for the old console versions, which used to work, but they no longer match as the algorithm did change just not in the way I had hoped.
I was coming here to ask the same thing. I had tweeted 4jsteve about this. I wonder if it is possible to include the pc algorithm when at least using a large sized world. I hope 4jsteve can see this and at let us know if this option and ill even tweet it to 4j.
Speaking of the world, is anyone not seeing moutains to the clouds and savannah plateau m is really low to the ground. Is this a bug? Everything looks condensed in the worlds now and you only get a small piece of biomes.
I agree. Shorter mountains, no mesa areas, just small biomes. Rabbits only in snow areas.
Remember fellas, the squeaky wheel gets the oil. If some of the youtubers bring this up, i am sure they will listen. Us "commoners" usually get blocked for tweeting bugs and ignored.
My son and I started a new world on the X1 and I saw tiny little biomes. There was a small roofed forest up against a plains, up against a jungle, and a savanna. All within sight of spawn. Are you kidding me? On PC, you will travel a good ways before exiting a biome. We traveled around, and it was like that everywhere we went. Tiny little biomes. *sigh* - oh well, he and I will play a little on that, but fortunately I can play on PC when I really want to play Minecraft.

Great post biometrekker. With that said i opened this on the mojang minecraft console bug webpage. Everyone Vote this up and let your voices be heard or else they will close and ignore the bug report.
thanks to all who have posted and voted on the bug thread i opened over at the mojang bugs site. Keep it up! They need to know this is crap and have ruined biomes for us! Did they not think we would notice?
They don't need to stop supporting older gen consoles, but rather be willing to give next gen what it deserves and thus be somewhat different from older consoles. We know the game is written in c++, and having some c++ experience myself there are extremly easy ways to implement different code based on a define. In other words they could easilly write code like....
#ifndef __NEXTGEN__
#define HOSTILE_MOB_CAP 128
#else
#define HOSTILE_MOB_CAP 64
#endif
This would basically allow different map caps based on if __NEXTGEN__ was defined or not. This same code can be used anywhere where you want different code based on if its next gen or not. But its my guess that 4J didn't want a seed on one console different from another.
I fully agree however that neg gen consoles are currently being held back by older versions, and i also understand that there is no reason for this, other then one console owner being upset that next gen has 'more'. For example if our 'limits' were increased for entities, mobs, ect, then other older gen consoles might 'complain' about it, causing more headaches for 4J. I truly don't envy them. Sooner or later they will have to draw the line and give next gen the love it deserves.
There maybe some parity between last gen and current gen is going on here, they don't want last gen audience to complain, and that's stupid... They have to let go last gen consoles and focus more on Current gen versions, seriously this time... Look at games like Call of Duty Black Ops III, Last gen version ran at 30 fps with no DLC content and NO Single Player campaign, the XBOX 360 and PS3 are getting OOOOOOLD, more than 10 years in the market!!
We want to have Increased mob cap, more online players (60 players at once maybe?), Infinite worlds (just like PE and PC versions, or maybe by dedicated servers), New map generation algorithm (It REALLY sucks without it)... you know, these kinds of things. SHOW SOME LOVE TO CURRENT GEN AUDIENCE WILL YA?
4J, I hope you are seeing this thread, but It's really annoying to have people upgrade to next gen just for them to slightly bigger worlds? that's it?? WHAT THE HECK???
It's probably some form of parity which really sucks. This won't change until suckers stop playing on older systems :-/
Maybe tomorrow for x-mas lots of next gen systems will be had and 4J will see a steep drop off in daily active users on those machines.
For the rest of us, do not donate your older systems. Destroy them so they can never find their way back into our bubble here
Agree 1000%, My XBOX 360 and PS3 are LITERALLY collecting dust right now, using my Xbox One and PS4 all day. It's getting really annoying right now, It's been almost a year and a half and the current gen versions aren't getting anything special. they're stuck with Last gen consoles. And they released the Wii U version recently, that shows that they will NOT leave the last gen versions, I hope they make different updates and different features for last gen and current gen, make them different please!!
The slime finder is exactly what I was wondering about too!
The slime finder works perfectly fine with the new update. Slime chunks are numerically calculated based upon the seed, not on the biomes above ground.
To test this, I created a new world and put the seed into the slime chunk finder and low and behold, the slime chunks that the finder showed were indeed slime chunks.

4JSteve, would you be able to confirm?

That's maybe because the worlds aren't Infinite in the console, the console world sizes aren't enough to get this algorithm fully realized.

Gonna be time for new "Seed" threads.

There's something fishy going around after updating to TU31 on all platfroms (PS3, PS4, X360, XB1).
The world generation kinda weird, Savanna biome is generated small and close to plains biome, no extreme hills (even on Xbox One's large world)
That's because they didn't implement the new world generation algorithm from PC version to consoles maybe?
They seem to have used the same algorithm for Next gen that they used for the 360 and PS3. It's garbage.
Seriously, just let 360 and PS3 go....
