I know the worlds are bigger by 36 times. Anyone able to figure out how many "maps" that would be. I am making a wall of maps that i fill and placing them in the correct order on a wall. So far I have a 9x9. How many maps would it take to map out the entire current world?
correction. I meant 3x3. So a total of 9 maps. the cente rmap woud obviously be the center and locaiton of original spawn point.
World is 36 times bigger but maps are also larger so 25 maps covers everything. 5 across and 5 up and down BUT... there is a current bug where placing maps in items frames has issues so you may have to wait for the bug fix to complete your plans.
I'm also in the process on my world I have at least 12 complete maps, I'm having trouble connecting them in item frames, guess it might that glitch baldur mentioned.
It's not a glitch. That feature isn't in the game yet. Putting maps on a wall together in item frames won't turn them into a giant map yet. No word on whether or not we'll ever get that or not either.

I also previously had this problem and it has been corrected. I was unaware of even newer version having the "one big map" feature. that would be pretty neat. so 5x5 would fill the world. I am 3x3 now. so one full ring around that would be the entire world. I love these new maps but it is a pain having to juggle through maps when going to different sections.

That bug was fixed in the last update, I believe. I have map on my wall from another area and after the update it now fills in correctly.
