You may be here wondering exactly what this post will cover. To enlighten you, today's topic is addressed toward the removal of previous generation consoles. The Xbox 360, ps3 and PS vita. Now, you may be saying to yourself "4J would never stop updating all consoles" and you'd be correct. That is the main problem. 4J Studios doesn't want to stop updating every platform and I commend their efforts and dedication to that. But folks, I am here today to tell you that pre-gen literally cannot take much more.
In the beginning, there were updates, and the updates were good. Sometimes the updates added new things, sometimes the updates fixed old things. But as the updates grew bigger, the systems of yester year began to show signs of wear. Frame rates dropped harder than glass jaws and bugs found their way into the garden, eating up precious save files and memory. The constructs designed to keep them at bay, finally breaking and withering away.
The fact that the previous generation consoles are just becoming less and less capable of handling new content may have you concerned, and it should. But 4J needs your help. They need all our help. 4J is so blindly dedicated that they will continue to try to force these wonderful updates into packages that cannot contain them. It is time for the community to take a stand, an intervention, if you will. Help 4J understand that their work is very appreciated but that it is time to move on and focus on bigger, better things. Let 4J stop updating pre-gen on a high note. Only a few bugs this time and none serious.
But 1.8.8 should be the last update for pre-gen that adds features. I highly doubt that 1.9 will even fit. Do you agree? Disagree? Care? Thoughts, down below
I think the 1.8.8 Bug Fix update or updates that are coming should be the last. We need this bug fix (or bug fixes) to at least get some of the lag issues that some players are experiencing back under control... and then I'd like to see them add the ability to "select" biomes and biome ratios in survival worlds as a parting exclusive gift to us "small world" dwellers.
TBH all I really want is banners.Personally do oriental themed builds and while the Skyrim pack has 2 types I really want the diversity for multiple kingdoms
I've been saying this for a couple months now. It's not that I don't think the 7th gen consoles can "handle" any more update (that's just an argument made from ignorance) but that I seriously think the 360/PS3 versions have had their run. One of the biggest grievances from 8th gen players is that, with larger worlds aside, the game contains all the same limits as it's predecessors. Dropping development on the lower-end consoles would free up resources which can be directed at optimizing the XBone and PS4 versions.
So, do I think updates should stop? Dubiously worded. Yes and No.
Do I think the 360/PS3 should update to v1.9? No. Leaving the old consoles at 1.8 would keep them unique and viable if/when 1.9 comes to X1/PS4. It also creates an incentive for players to get the new versions if they want the changes. Shady? Perhaps, but that's just sound business practice.
Updates should continue for bug fixes, and I think the 360/PS3 versions need some alternative way of obtaining all the blocks and items the game offers since a single world will likely never generate every single biome. Whether that's done with some type of world-editor or biome-selector or simple crafting recipes, I leave that judgement to the developers. But I'm hopeful we will see something addressing the issue in the near future.
Also, I don't foresee (nor would I want) new texture and skin packs to stop being supported. Those have always been a good way of keeping the game fresh.

I honestly never expected the game to come this far when I first hopped on it before school over three years ago.
I was content with the previous update; as long as bugs are patched over, then I'm fine with not having End cities or dual-weilding.
Stay fluffy~

Perpetually negative
