@upup_away95 I am not reporting a bug I am giving a method around it.
This workaround has also been mentioned in other threads. I think it has been happening to a lesser degree for some time. It is also somewhat noticeable in my version (TU16 - because I haven't updated yet), although it may not happen as frequently as in TU24. Since it was reported, I began keeping real track of the blocks I mine against what I seem to collect, and the discrepancy became apparent. I now tend to save before mining really valuable ores and if I don't get the right number collected, I exit without saving (I know, I know... I've always been against this practice, but I have been making an exception due to this drop issue.) Since it's still a somewhat rare event in my version, I'd rather do this than mine away blocks above everything I collect.
ok my bad. Hadn't found anything related to it myself. Guess I didn't look hard enough. Still learning but hey gotta
get it right at some point.
No worries. It's my understanding that the bug tracker thing on Mojang's webiste does a better job of keeping people advised of their progress towards fixing ongoing bugs in the game and ensures that the same bug doesn't get reported over and over again. IMO, that would be a big improvement over the rather "hit and miss" process here on these forums. We had the official bugs thread, but more often than not, the same bug would get reported many, many times in that thread along with several other threads being started even after 4JSteve had acknowledged them on the bugs thread. It's made the forums quite active... but also pretty confusing at the same time.
Since title update 24 rolled out we were blessed with this new bug which seems to either throw drops randomly
up to 10 blocks away or while mining below may cause drops to float to the surface.
While I have not found any way to prevent blocks drops from flying around, even building walls and such doesn't seem
to have an effect. However, while mining below a surface, digging out ores 1 block above them will
alieviate the bug as the block cannot float up through air blocks thankfully.
Hope this information is helpful

There have been several threads made about this already. 4J recently moved the bug reporting function off of this forum and onto Mojang's bug tracker.
This is why I've been using Creative and playing Don't Starve more frequently....
Stay fluffy~
