Hi. I've just started teaching a newbie to Minecraft using the 1.8.2 tutorial world. He's not played games on the XBox before, so we're taking it slow to let him get used to the controls. I've searched the previous threads on this topic; but don't find any mention of anyone finding an actual stronghold underground (i.e. not the special one constructed above the tutorial area). I would like to be able to guide him into a cave system where he could stumble into a stronghold for himself. Does anyone know if there is an underground stronghold in this world; and if so, would you please provide even an approximate location of a cave entrance that leads to it?
I've not found one, or am aware of one. How old is the person you are teaching?
If they are young, maybe you can 'trick' them? There is a tunnel near the 'open' stronghold, to the left I think. Get him/her to dig in that and break into the stronghold you know of. . . confidence boost?

Sorry, this is an older person; and we've already visited the mountain one and found the two chests. I don't think he'd be fooled.
We've ventured deep into the cave that starts by the sign, cutting through the wall at the bottom into an cave system and down to the lava layer (12). He even got to find some legit diamonds last night; but he is having difficulty manipulating the motions of his Steve right now (lots of fall scares and getting swept up by water currents), so we've set the tutorial on Peaceful and forfeited finding three of the chests as a result. I'd like to be able to guide him to some other "goodies" in compensation and to keep his interest up until we feel he can start trying to tackle the mobs.

Ah, I know that I fooled my daughter that way. TBH I've not really explored the tut world. Kinda went straight into the game.
How about the chest in the minecraft sign, in the sky, is that still there?
And I don't think getting swept away by the current, or falling off cliffs etc is down to him being a newbie. . . .I still manage to do that. LOL

Thanks. I'll let him know he's not alone (actually, I fall a lot too, but it's usually because I keep walking around with my map in front of my face - LOL). Yeah, the chest in the minecraft sign is still there and the one in the village with the white and blue flag (at least, I think that one still spawns on peaceful). The three I know he won't get are the one in the village with the red and blue flag, the one out on the island, and the one in the tree fort. Overall, he's done pretty well, I think.
