I've been mucking about trying to make a slime farm for some time now... without having any luck. I had checked the slime finder app, cleared a double chunk area below layer 16 that the slime finder indicated were slime chunks for my seed, placed a few torches on the walls and a very few on the floor. I had lit up every possible cave around it. I made a hallway for 30 blocks from the nearest edge of the double chunks and sat at various points along it for 20 minutes. NO LUCK... or so I thought. Until, I opened up my doorway at the OTHER end of the hallway and was met by slimes. They spawned in a very small cave I had lit up that is NOT on a slime chunk according to the slime finder). Has anyone else had experience with the slime finder being in error. I've triple checked all the coordinate and I'm 100% sure I'm reading bot the slime finder and my map correctly. My seed is a random negative number. Is that possibly what is messing the slime finder app up?
The Slime Finder is a highly un reliable source, slimes can spawn anywhere layer 6 or lower but slime chunks just happen to be areas where spawners are specifically set for.
Every slime farm I make works fine and I have only used the chunk thing once.

Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.

Its highly reliable because of the java code used in the app is the same code thats used in game.
Well, I'm rechecking my coordinates and cleared out more area. Right now, it appears like the only place I'm not getting slimes to spawn is on the two chunks indicated by the slime finder. I just got a stack of slime balls in 1 day/night cycle.
ETA: Coordinates and seed information have been checked and rechecked. Slimes are definitely not spawning on the two green chunks shown in the slime finder, but on one nearby chunk that is not showing as green in the slime finder. It doesn't really matter I guess, since I'm getting ample slime from this arrangement as it is now.
Would you mind telling us those seed and coordinates so someone else could check it? As Fayzed said the code is known and fixed, at least for the original Java version.. but it's unlikely 4J messed with that and wouldn't explain why it works for everyone else (me included) 100%..
Sure, no worries. Thanks for your interest. The seed I'm using was randomly generated. The string displayed is -6350631566211809176
The Slime Finder shows two adjacent Slime Chunks at X80 to 96, Z368-384 and Z384-400. My slime floor right now is at level 10 (map indicates Y12, where my head is). The slime are not appearing on the listed chunks, but instead spawning in a small cave (created by gravel falling when I was mining things out) around X63, Z378. I have cleared the distance between the two chunks (i.e. chunk X64-80, Z368-400. I also have a little hallway dug along X85 back to my mine stairs. There is a little cave off to the right of it at Z322 to Z330 that I opened up (I think it originally had water there, but it may have been a lava lake). Anyway, slime are also spawning there, even though the slime finder does not list this area as a slime chunk either. It lists X80 to 96, Z304-320.
I'm updating this thread because I've found another instance with a negative seed where a slime finder is not indicating the proper slime chunks. In this case, the slime finder is the Chunkbase one. I'm playing on seed -1223645850 (aka -Apollo 13); and I've been building a slime farm in the very upper lefthand corner of the map. The slime finder shows a slime chunk as being the one right down from the corner (i.e. 2nd down the lefthand edge) of the map, but my slime are clearly spawning on the third chunk down the left side, not the second one (I've separated the various chunks with fences, so there is no way the slimes are traveling between the two chunks.)
Would someone please double check this seed using TU17? (I don't want to update until after the next update comes out.) The slime chunks should not have changed between the two updates, but I want to eliminate that possibility.
I would like to add, slimes spawn in swamps now. During the night granted, but they spawn. So that could be an alternate for making a farm. Well TU19, and yes it might be good to wait till they have a bug fix due to certain bugs.

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.

The slime finder i've been using is: http://extension.ws/minecraft/slimes.html
I couldn't get the other one to display on my old computer.
