This is the rant I've made on the subject of how awful Minecraft Story Mode can be. You don't have to agree with me, but at least read the entire thing before replying.
Awful Lipsyncing
Lipsyncing in this game is way off ninety percent of the time. It's hard to tell what people are saying and when because often times people's lips will start moving a couple seconds before or after they've started speaking. The lips don't even match up with anything the characters say, and while I understand that Telltale doesn't have many pixels to work with, it doesn't excuse how messed up the timing is.
Inhuman Reactions
This is one of the worst parts of the game. There are many times where characters respond or react to an action in a very strange way. For example, when Jessie creates an iron golem in front of a crowd of people, they spend about twelve seconds screaming, pause, and then instantly switch to telling Jessie how awesome it was. How does that make sense?
Glitches
There are times when entire crowds of people blink out of existence for a few seconds or when two objects phase through eachother.
Violence
There is a LOT of screaming and violent moments in this game that doesn't exactly fit the age ten rating. There are even a few deaths.
Strange Character Changes
I'm going to focus on Ivor here. So basically, unless theres some huge plot point I missed, this guy went from being a bitter, creepy old guy to a childish but dark-minded person. When I say childish, I mean it. He acts like he's about seven years old.
Subtitles
The subtitles in this game are absolutely ridiculous. You'd better hope that you have two functioning ears because if you don't every other sentence will throw you. The subtitles look as though they were composed from the very first script made of the game. Entire sentences are added and deleted at random, some have random words added or removed, and I've seen at least two errors where the subtitles show the words for an emotion displayed between two of these things : < > and then the sentence itself.
Self-Indulgent Scripting
This part isn't too bad, but it really bothers me. Every 5 sentences that comes out of each characters mouths is "WOW THAT WAS AWESOME", and I'm sitting there like "oh that was pretty cool i guess".
Non-Vanilla Content
So many new things are added to the Minecraft Story Mode world that you can't go 5 scenes without seeing a non-vanilla block or item. And while I can get around the fact that vanilla minecraft might not have enough content to fulfill the needs of a plot-driven story, you know you have a problem when the ENTIRE PLOT of every episode in the series is based off of some new mob or place, e.g. the witherstorm or the weird sky palace.
Epilogue
This is all I really have to say about Minecraft Story Mode. It is certainly not the worst game ever made, but it is pretty awful compared to other games made by Telltale Games. Basically, Minecraft Story Mode was a low-budget, quantity-over-quality game made by Telltale to make quick money off of minecraft fans. The best part about this game is that it gives Telltale the money to develop new episodes of their walking dead game.
While I tend to look at the story aspect of most games more than I do the graphical aspect (hell, we are all playing Minecraft), I do have to agree with most of these points. I liked the game's storyline, and for an E10+ game, the story was great. Other than that though, I agree. It felt like it was made too quick. It was buggy like crazy. Lips were off more than they should have been. I had a lot of framerate drops (and I have a really good laptop) and it felt unoptimized. And so many more things. Again, I appreciate this game as a story for kids 10 and up, but that's about all. I agree also, it certainly isn't the worst game ever made, but it needed a lot more work before release.
4 years ago, I started played MCPE/Minecraft in general. Now, I have MCPC, and I'm still not bored of the blocky sandbox indie. Cuz awesomeness! Got a problem with that?
Lipsyncing: It's not meant to be good. The animations for this game are intentionally choppy and pixelated, because that's how Minecraft is.
Inhuman reactions: Well, once the crowd realizes that the golem isn't going to eat them, they're less scared. Also, they might be saying it's awesome so Jesse doesn't tell the golem to kill them all. Can you provide some more examples?
Glitches: Glitches happen. They're not exclusive to Story Mode.
Violence: It's not that violent. There's nothing bloody or gory. This game is for ages 10 and up, and as an 11 year old I haven't been disturbed by anything. Of course, I'm probably not the best test subject, but remember that this is a Telltale game. It's not going to be goddamned sunshine and rainbows.
Character changes: Ivor was pumped about the Eversource. More examples, please?
Subtitles: The only time when the subtitles were that bad was episode 5, and that got fixed. I'm pretty sure the majority of people playing this game have two functioning ears, so it's fine if the subtitles are a little off.
Scripting: Examples, please.
Non-Vanilla Content: If nothing that wasn't in MC was in MCSM, this would be the crappiest game ever. Nothing would be a threat, because respawning. That alone would just destroy the game.
Have I made myself clear?

Whatever I just said, I didn't mean any offense. Unless we're fighting, in which case I probably did.
If I said something was a joke when it didn't seem like one, I'm making an excuse to avoid an argument I know is coming. Instead of telling me how not funny I am and how it didn't seem like a joke at all, just go along with it. Because flame wars suck and nobody wants to be a part of one.
Roughly 95% of Minecraft players hate Villagers and would be very happy if they were removed. If you are one of the 5% who actually like villagers, copy this into your signature.-RainbowGirl
The damn image won't work-screw my iPad!-but you should click this link. Now. Or you'll regret it...because this suggestion is epic.

Didn't buy it because it costed a lot of money.

Let this tell you that I'm not a noob.
And I'm not a 6-year-old whinger either.
I can agree with the lip syncing part, I hope sometime telltalegames fixes that. Btw I like the "new" Ivor personality, but I respect your opinion
what do you actually mean non vanilla content
this is telltale games
I have never gotten the graphical problems, It has always been smooth for me.
I'm almost completely inactive, in case you're trawling through really old threads and notice me somewhere.
